Title: Turkish Yogurt
Post by: Brianbern on March 22, 2015, 13:55:35 PM
Lidl are selling this Turkish Yogurt which is the best I've tasted outside of Turkey! It's thick & creamy & almost as good as the local Fethiye Yogurt we buy in Calis Market! Not bad price either at £1 something a kilo! Hope I've posted in the right place! Maria

Bought his a few times, it's very nice, and reasonably priced.

There's been a bit of chat about this in the past on a food forum. Milbona is a registered trademark of Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG and it's used for various meat and dairy products around the world.

When first asked about the origin of the Turkish Style Yoghurt, Lidl were very cagey but it appears now that it's made in Eire from milk produced in the UK. So, they can get away with claiming that it's a UK produced product.

I read today on the Sensatori F.B. Page, someone asking do they have covered pots of yoghurt, because that is what they want to eat.... Such a shame these people in their huge gilded cage will never know about the lovely yoghurt you get in the markets.

It says on the tub KKOB in capital letters - PRODUCED IN GERMANY USING EU MILK - protecting themselves - I have to say it very nice, but could never replace the beautiful luxurious Fethiye Yogurt we buy in Calis Market! I definitely overindulge in that!

I love the Yoghurt from Calis Market, it looks just like double cream and I have never found a yoghurt I liked as much and always look forward to buying a tub of it.

Which yoghurt do you buy in Calis market, I usually buy it in the supermarket, but some have been a bit iffy.

Try any one of the yoghurts sold in the markets. They're all slightly different but nonetheless still better than any you'll get in a supermarket.

If you buy at a supermarket choose 'Susme' - dearer than other types but close to market quality.

If you go to the bit where they sell the eggs and cheese, the stalls have slide top fridges, like the ones shops keep ice cream and lolly ices in.  Just ask the person serving for a tub of yoghurt,  they will get a plastic box with a lid attached and open the top of the fridge, just let them know how many scoops you want. Once you try this yoghurt, you will forget the supermarket stuff.   ;)

Yes I agree the Suzme yogourt is the most delicious, it's very much like thick Greek yogourt but better! Very creamy and rich. You can get it it the shops too.   :)
