Dont know if this any help to anyone.the first section is bringing in to turkey.

DEPARTURE SHOPPING LIMITS (Limits Per Person)

The deaprture allowances are where a lot of holidaymakers are getting caught out. It may well be OK to take them out of Turkey but they're above the Duty Free limits for entry into the UK from a non-EU state.

We drove back into Turkey via the border at Ipsala, last Friday.
There was sign on the Customs control booth that stated "...each person is allowed to bring 2 packets (not cartons) of cigarettes ....."

Duty Free/Tax Paid into the UK from non EU countries is 200 cigarettes or 1 sleeve as it is known. In Turkish airports the staff will tell you and sell you anything because once you part with your cash, they've got it. Customs & Excise in the UK give "recommendations" for cigarettes being brought infrom the EU, usually 3,200 BUT you can bring in any amount from EU countries provided it is not for re-sale. You can bring different brands if you wish and you CAN give them as gifts to family and friends.

An extremely clever ( Psychologist ) friend of ours , after spending a fortnight with Loz & I in Turkey, was told at Dalaman Duty Free that it was perfectly legal to take 2000 cigarettes back to the U.K. On arrival at Gatwick, Customs & Excise took the lot from him, even the amount that he was legally entitled to carry into the U.K. was forfeited !! So, be very aware of what the law is , before parting with any money at ANY exit airport in Turkey, because as Ray1951 rightly says, you pays yer money, you take yer chance !! Enjoy your holiday !!

I always get told at Dlm that you can take lots more cigarettes why not buy more?, when I tell them that customs only allow 200 they say I am wrong. Bloody liars.

I don't find these days (and haven't for a few years)that Duty Free is the bargain we get told it is. I cant be bothered to haul heavy bottles home for the sake of saving a couple of quid especially when our supermarkets have regular reductions.
Perfume last Christmas was cheaper in Boots for a Gift set compared to duty free!
Remember that sales people are on commission both in the air and in the terminal thus loading prices.

How are they "loading prices" to gain commission? The prices are all clearly shown.

Its common knowledge crew etc earn commission..it won't come out of company profits !

Yes, very common knowledge but thanks for thinking I might not know and telling me. Paying staff commission and "loading prices" are hardly the same thing. And airport and in flight mix & match spirits 2 litres for £20 or £22 won't be something your local Tesco will be offering, ever, no matter how much of the £20 or £22 goes to the airport/airline staff in commission!
