On the 21st of April 2008, just 10 days before the official start of the season...


They dug up the entire main street

They must have had it back down before we arrived as I don't remember that.

And a damned fine job they made of it compared to the uneven surfaces in the streets of Glasgow.  ;)

Holding up a mirror to this incident in history, today the road behind the prom. continues to be 'dug up' some 18-24 months after they dug it up for the canalisation work :( :( :(
