On way back to Calis today had a natter with the "Captain"(ok..he was trying his chat up lines.lol) and he told me he's sent off to Ankara for permission to extend the service down the coast to benefit the new hotels like Jiva/Sensatori. He said he'd got the Mayor's support. So whether this will come to fruition we shall have to see.
He was adamant 7tl was fair :o despite my trying to tell him lower fares will get bums on marine plywood. He'd only had 200 Cruisers all day today.
-
7TL that's absolutely ridiculous. He should charge at least 15 TL for a service like that.
-
200 cruisers! That's a fair amount I'd think for the day!! , considering the shoddy weather aswell!
How did he envisage the extension to jiva/sensatori?? Personally I can see how it could happen?
-
1000 + in peak season he said !!!
I'm in the wrong business!!!

As " Scunner " intimated on CBF last week, it's a simple matter of choice, one either sits, or more often , stands on a dangerously, and illegally crowded Dolmus, being driven in an extremely dangerous manner by a guy who is constantly on the phone whilst on the move, :o and with another Turks' sweaty bloody armpit centimetres from one's nostrils, :o or, pay a little extra, enjoy a leisurely mini-cruise across the lovely bay, and disembark at one's destination refreshed ( windswept maybe, but refreshed ), I know which Lorraine and I prefer, and it ain't the aroma of unwashed native !!!! 8)

I'm in full agreement with GordonA here! 7Tl at today's exchange rate is an absolute bargain for a trip like that. It's less than £2 for heaven's sake! Where else would you get a half hour boat trip in such fabulous scenery for that! This argument annoys me every year, people complaining about the fare going up! These people have to make a living and maintain their boats and ok if you are a family of 4 or more you wouldn't be using it every day perhaps but please don't make out it's expensive! >:(
-
If it was twice the price, we would enjoy our leisurely trip across the water to fethiye, worth every lira I say
-
Easy solution... live/stay in Fethiye. No reason to pay water taxi therefore price is irrelevant :)

used water taxi today as my family are here. well worth the 7 lira for half an hour sail from fethiye to calis. you either pay it or you don't. your choice.
-
My dad loves the water taxi. However, each time this week there's only been 4 or 5 people on the way over to Fethiye.
No idea if this is the price rise or because there just doesn't seem to be many people around.
-
I didn't say 7tl was expensive...just relayed my conversation bearing in mind Earlier this year there was a similar thread after the price rise was announced !!
Everyone has their own opinions ..as a visitor 7tl is a bargain but for someone living here on a pension or limited means that 7tl might be expensive.
-
I much prefer the new service buses every half hour 2tl polite drivers brand new large air conditioned buses, I found the novelty of the water taxi wore off a few years ago, but still go on occasionally with guests.
-
I don't think non-tourists use it much, it's purpose is for a tourist experience so 7 tl is amazing. Our friends are trying it today to come across to Fethiye and really looking forward to it. 8)

Well there is no Water Taxis in the winter, you can take the Dolmus,2lira,a bargain,
Or take the new Belvedere service bus 2lira also a bargain, so you have a choice,

I WILL find you, you do realise that, ?? !! ;-)
-
If they can get extensions to the collection points that would be great but i hope they can use a bit of common sense and do a half way drop off along the sea front nearer the new Irish bar and other places now that would be useful.
-
Water taxis in marmaris have several stop points.
It would be great to expand them. I love my mini boat trips but variety would be even better.

I would rather be in Calis paying 7tl for the water taxi , than sat at work in UK :( :(
-
Come to that, I would rather be sat on a Dolmus next to a sweaty armpit, than at work in UK :) :) :)
-
Did someone mention W.O.R.K. ?
So glad i don't do that anymore lol
-
If I am just goıng to the banks or mıddle bıt of town I use the water taxı. Saves on petrol and parkıng and a relaxıng way to travel.
-
i will use it everyday for 14 days in June, it will work out about £12.50 a week each for me and Lisa, absolute bargain, What a way to travel
