Another topic gave me the idea to ask - Calis is of course great value in terms of hotels and eating out (generally) but where was your best bargain holiday?
My friend and I went to Corfu for a fortnight for the ridiculous (even then) sum of £123 for the flight/transfer/accommodation package. Two weeks in Ipsos in a two bedroom apartment in a hotel block that only had a small coast road between it and the sea. Great restaurants and bars and a wonderful, uncommercialised area of the island.
We did nearly get thrown out of the apartments apparently for singing along to Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights at 4am, while slightly under the influence of local Lowenbrau.
Calis still does well if we are prepared to be flexible on departure airports and dates - our flights this year are with Monarch from Leeds Bradford and I snapped them up at £125 each return.

All inclusive week in Cuba at a beach front hotel for £500 each - including flights & transfers.
Apparently someone at the tour operator block booked the hotel for an extra week and they neglected to offer that week in their brochures/web site etc - So it was a last minute ad in the newspaper.
It was the end of the season so it rained - but only for 1/2 a day - and the mojitos were free.

£14 for a week inc return transport from East Yorkshire & all meals at Jesse James Bunkhouse near Llanberis in N Wales. Mind you, it was 1970 & we had to do all our own cooking, washing up etc ;D
It was a youth club holiday & away from the parents for the first time ;)

2004 we got a late package deal to the Oykun in Calis (of course) with Thompson. Two weeks B & B including flights and transfers in October. £500 for the two of us. Just before I'd finished the booking online I decided to see if I could find any discount vouchers and got one for another £50 off, so £450 in total! ;D
This is the holiday which made us fall in love with Calis, we've been back now every year except last year when we had to cancel. Ok, it's still Calis but definitely one of our best bargain holidays 8)

When I was a kid my parents booked a holiday to Barcelona. I remember is was 22gns each for 14 days.

About 25 years ago we went on an allocate on arrival to Menorca, just the 2 of us and paid £159 each for a week. When we got there we were allocated a 4 bedroom villa with private access to the beach and shared pool with the neighboring villa which was occupied for 1 day. The neighbors paid over £350 each, they were gutted.
Probably the best deal that we had to Turkey was in the good old days of Onur Air, we got return flights in August for £37.50 each way. :)

Oh the marvellous times of Onur Air - we used to regularly pay £280 for 4 returns Dalaman to Edinburgh. You'd be hard pushed to get one for that today.

I remember the days of Excel Airline when CBF members had a promo code giving £10 discount on a one way flight. One flight I booked was advertised at £7.50; I entered the promo code thinking to myself "this'll never work". At then end of the reservation process I entered my credit card details & was suprised to find that the code had worked. Furthermore, Excel actually processed the £2.50 refund on my card. Now that was a result, being paid to fly ;D

I was surprised when Excel went bust Liz ;)

Oh and do you remember that ar5ehole member who tried to get Excel to take away our special discount because one member asked if someone could take a present out for her mum's birthday. Evidence of organised trafficking apparently. Turned out it was a pair of gloves! We certainly have attracted some poisonous individuals over the years.

Yes, but the good ones far outnumber the rotten apples.
Back on the holiday thingy. Not really a holiday, but, when my daughter was at Uni in Luton, She could get flights up to Aberdeen on Easyjet for £9.00. I got one myself for £11.00 when went down to visit her.

Would that 5ehole be Plantpot. ?? Rings a bell.

£189 for 2 weeks in Orlando Florida from Glasgow. Included was flight, car hire and a Holiday Inn hotel just off the I-4 motorway!
My sister bought the same deal and got it for £179. Going back later this year and add a 0 to the end of prices I've stated, and that'll nearer what we're paying per person this trip! :o

Thomson used to sell holidays on Ebay and in September 2006, nobody was very keen on visiting Turkey. We got a holiday for 3 people for £40 total. Upon arrival they were most put out that we didn't want to use the hotel and transfer to Marmaris. :)
