For several days in a row we have had heavy build ups of cloud and rumbles of thunder in mid-afternoon but they have not come to anything. Same again today and I was thinking "Surely this has to break soon?". Then a strike of lightning, a tremendous crash of thunder followed by a cloudburst - producing petrichor.
Great word isn't it? And this post is really just an excuse to use it.

Was you petrified Colwyn?
-
Nah, I was too stoned to worry.

OK, I'll admit I had to Google it.

KKOB, yeah, but the smell is something you've known all your life isn't it? Bur it took two Australian scienists to wonder what is, how it is produced and to give it a name. A name I forget straight way and have to look up every time I smell it. But at least I know now that is has a name. What about the smell of freshly cut grass in the summer? Does that have a name and an explanation?

Nowhere near as romantic as we might have hoped.

Thanks a bunch, Menthol. Now I suppose I'll have to feel guilty when mowing the lawn that the grass is screaming out in pain and sending out aromatic defence signals. And I suppose that I'll have to give up eating meat as well since cows and sheep also torture grass.

Show me a man who claims to be a vegan, and I'll show you a man who's trying to bed a vegan. ;)
