A local Fethiye school is the latest to benefit from the 3c’s fundraising.
Although air conditioning units do not seem very exciting , for Silkar School, a poorly funded large school in the poor catchment area of Günlükbası, they have proved to be a vital help in assisting the children to learn.
After helping a large number of outlying village schools the 3C’s decided to provide help closer to home this year and when Silkar approached our charity before Christmas asking if we could help in providing air con units for the classrooms, which up until then had no heating whatsoever, we readily agreed.
Seven units were purchased and installed and the teachers say that they have noticed a remarkable difference in the children’s learning since the units were installed as it has provided a much better learning environment for them. Also, now that the temperatures have soared, the classrooms are now nice and cool and conducive to learning.
Part 2 of the Silkar project has also now reached completion. During our initial visit our charity was given a tour of the school and we discovered that they had very little equipment for their science room. We asked the science teacher to compile a wish list of items that he needed which would make teaching the subject easier and more exciting for the children and last month 4,500 TL worth of equipment was ordered for the school.
Last week members of our charity, accompanied by CBF’s own veritable fundraising tornado Highlander and his lovely wife Brenda, revisited the school to see some of the equipment that had been delivered.
The school were extremely grateful for the 3C’s help and our charity in turn would like to pass on this thanks to all of our supporters who have made the funding of this project possible.
