So looks like another bar close by.
-
Thank you folks. that has sorted out some confusion. looks like some of our fave bar staff have swapped bars. We will be back out in a fortnight or so we will have a choice to make lol.
-
Yes the big fella and the young lad have moved across "the pond". There are both very nice people but their replacement is also a very nice man.
Let me know if you see the female singer ;).
-
I've never managed to sample the Gitarci Bar - I've tried, we've been too early and also too late :D
But the name Chaos Bar doesn't make me want to try it more now.
-
Ah thanks Highlander that sounds like Big T.C. and young Faruk who have jumped ship over to the Chaos bar. Ill be there 10 Aug and will look out for yr Lady singer.
Cheers again .

Gitaçi bar used to be favourite place for a relaxed drink, listening to chill out music. Not any more, I went a couple of weeks ago and the sandwich bar that has opened next door to Gitaçi was playing music full blast and drowning out the Gitaçi bar altogether. Totally unnecessary, there wasn't even a soul in the sandwich bar, but it's put me off going there, it was unpleasant, shame
-
That's dreadful - hope it was a one off because the number of places you can enjoy a quiet drink and be able to have a conversation in are fast diminishing. ;)
-
Agree with you there John.
One of the nicest drinking locations in Calis.
Lots going on around but still relaxing, especially with a mandolin playing in the background.
-
And now Smack my bitch up too
-
especially with a mandolin playing in the background.
Yes the mandolin is wonderful
-
John H - please, please confirm that there was a female singer there :)
-
Sorry John but the last time I was in the Guitar Bar was with you and I do not remember any singer that night.
The Gin & Tonic there must be really good.
I had been in a few times earlier in June but there was never a singer on.
-
Disaster !!!!!
Thanks anyway John - it was a splendid evening :)

For those who enjoy this area there has been a 'make over' and a change of name. The Guitar Bar is now The Kupa Pub and has been done up very nicely with changes to the building and much better outdoor furniture. The bar opposite is the Cocktail Bar. Do not know if this is a re name or not but it's furniture is also improved on last year. A new restaurant on the Oyken side of the square is the Mangal Sarayi which looks good and has been fairly busy. Two blokes entertain after 2000 hrs on a keyboard, sax or flute. The duck pond is still there with 2 white ducks and 4 chicks. We have been in a few nights and where not really busy I would say doing fairly well under the present circumstances.
-
I visited the Guitar bar on my visit last year after a few favourable reviews on CBF. It may not have been busy, but the music was good, though not live. It was a pleasant experience all the same.
-
Popped our heads round the door to the bar on the right hand side this evening
White wine 12 tl, gin and tonic 18tl.
Just saying but don't think we will be back. :(
-
The restaurant which last year at the back entrance was the Bedestan Ocacbasi. Different owners and different decor now. Haven't tried it yet but disappointed Bedestan no longer there as food was great.

Second visit this evening.
The volume of the music was totally, repeat totally ludicrous.
Left after one tune with head banging. Won't be going back in a hurry.
PS Right hand side white wine and gin and tonic 20tl compared to 30 tl across the way. Just saying.
-
We also found strange prices in the square, Raki & lemonade 38tl to the left in the place that looks like a cake shop, 24tl across in the bar to the right. Agree with John music was headbanging stuff
-
I believe the man who ran the Guitar Bar has a new business in Hisaranou. Neither of the current bars in the square have any connection with him we were told. Surroundings very pleasant but music annoyingly loud and unnessessary. Would be better if they could agree to play an hour each and alternate like that but I suppose that's too much to hope for.
-
Hi.
Went in the square last August and IMO 2 bars playing competing music did not work. Was better when it was just the one in there. Will have another look this Aug though.

Haha John, you said on here 2 days ago you didn't think you'd go back, and you did, and you still didn't like it !
-
Looked a bit different 4 years ago
-
Sorry my photo did not appear there?? Given up now, will try later.
-
Been a few times now.
Music level OK for us.
Never any competing music when we were there only the keyboard/sax or flute.
I drink beer and my wife drinks soft drinks only. No complaints on prices and service first rate.
Thats from the old guitar bar site.
The 'duck pond' is beginning to look a bit rough and short of water. The chicks have gone but the two adult ducks are still there.
I think still a nice setting for a relaxing drink.

I think I liked it better then.

Yes, The Guitar Bar formerly in Calis ) have opened up in Hisaronu... been open about 6/7 weeks now... nice guys but sadly no customers to speak of :-\ they are in a very quiet area of Hisaronu, and are struggling......and its even quieter this year....
-
If something is not broken, why fix it? They had a great and unusual base for their business in Calis with lots of people loving the atmosphere the surroundings and calling in to have a drink and chill out in the evenings. I am amazed they moved to Hisaronu.
I remember La Terace was so popular and it moved to Hisaronu and was closed within the year.
I loved La Terace, my all time favourite in Calis Beach.
-
All time favourite Calis Bars & restaurants, now there's a topic idea :)
-
Go for it Scunner, it would be interesting to see..
-
I shall - but not of all time, most missed :)
-
Sadly there`s just no customers for them... if only they researched the area before moving there ? The area in Hisaronu where they are is a `dead duck`and always has been ...they have spent considerable money doing up the premises.....I will be very surprised if they last even to July.. so many businesses have in that particular area have failed, left and gone over the years :(
-
Loved the guitar bar when we first came across it a few years back. Old duck pond and just a few seats and benches. The one guy singing and the lady serving Big (cheap) Measures from the little place on the left which had a small serving hatch for food. Started to change over the next few visits and lost some of it's old character to us. We went back last week but didn't stay, found it had completely changed but NOT for the better in our opinion.
-
Came across this when looking for something else.
I knew that I hadn't imagined it ;)

We agree with Mr TOKY, when the Guitar bar opened it turned a drab area into a nice place to sit drink [ good measures :-X ]and listen to music THEN others jumped onto the bandwagon and spoilt the who set up so last year we only walked through there But we did find 2 Turkish ladies who had started up with home made Turkish food part hidden on a ally way corner looking to the right from the waste ground area towards the little square, that in our opinion was excellent Turkish food cooked to order very basic no frills
