Flights have now finally been released up to 4th Sept 2016...even though Easyjet website still says not until mid morning...But if you use the trick of putting in a June 2016 date then choosing the 3 week view and clicking through the weeks all flights are now showing...

Not so good price for school holidays

So wnt on in eager anticipation and the prices for August are just rubbish.  If we could go out at the start of July would be a bargain.  Should not be that surprised but it is annoying.  Silver lining is only two more years of school to think about!

We know what you mean, Babcc.

Fortunately, we reached the point last summer where school holidays no longer affect our travel plans so, have managed to get returns in the first half of July for £110 each and can leave the kids at home being as they are now 16, 18 & 21.

Now, just need a foolproof method for getting them to move out so we can sell up in the UK and book the one way trip to Turkey!!

Anyone know when October flights will be out?

December sometime Anne.  Not sure when, think it may be early December for flights from 4th September onwards.  We'll have to keep an eye out for them as we want September/October next year.

EasyJet's website says early December. I am reckoning the 3rd or 10th if this autumns releases are a precedent.

The last phase of Easyjet flights are out Sep to Oct for next year, there are some good prices i did a quick comparison with Thomas Cook before booking and they wanted double for my same dates...be quick to get a good price as even whikst I was booking they were going up...
Anyone having to be back in time for the start of term in September sadly for you folk the price is not cheap!

Booked ours for September. Price a bit high but not extortionate.

Last week of October is very expensive. Looks like it won't be turkey for us then

Already booked for Turkey in June and added Portugal (Lisbon) flights this morning. I'll do a price comparison elsewhere.

Do you need flights from Scotland?  ;)

Thats a bit of a pee off, I must admit I was suprised at the price of early September Dal to Lgw but its return to school time, i really feel for families having to pay these hiked up prices, I think it was per person £268 one way and the same flight one week later £68ish, soooo wrong....
Im not sure what time they were released this year, I stayed awake until nearly 1 am and there was nothing, i planned to wake at 5 am but woke at 7 am and they were on then, i wonder if they were much cheaper on first release, mine were increasing ( only by a few pounds) as I was trying to book...

Fair comment !!  Always expensive from Scotland as Mrs Harvey is always telling us.

We said a few weeks ago we would not book for the end of the next year with all the problems with Turkey, but could not resist the flight prices, Stansted to Dalaman for end September until end October £196 return for two people, a bargain, as we will both be retired next year we are going for 23 days, just hope it all works out and any problems out there do not stop us.

Cant wait.

She thinks the folk north of the border are persecuted. But then i don't think she has tried flying from Bristol!

I've booked Edinburgh to Dalaman for October but the return flight was going to be over £200 - so I am returning via Bristol (just under £100), then Inverness next day.

"She"  knows the people of Scotland are paying through the nose for flights.
However, nice to hear that Peat  has got a cheap flight from Dalaman to that far flung place in England called Bristol.

I don't mind driving to and from Manchester but I think even I would draw the line at flying back to a Southern England airport and getting another flight after an overnight stay. Each to their own though innit  :)

Obviously Bristol flights have special rates for residents of Scotland. We Bristolians paid over £400 per person for flights to/from Turkey for next June. {I may have mentioned that before}.

To be honest we normally have an overnight stay when we fly back to Edinburgh (normally midnight to 1 am, so no buses available) rather than face a 4 hour drive up the A9.

Booked an Easter holiday break from Bristol to dlm, for £68 each,( kids£63) couldn't resist at that price cheapest we have ever had. Kids will miss one day off school but hey ho!. Oh and there's nothing wrong with the far flung airport in Bristol, although it's not
our local airport what we pay in a taxi to birmingham will be the same a paying parking in Bristol.

Some cracking prices available just now, EDI to DLM for less than £100 rtn (no hold bag) just now in April.  Even May is only £130ish rtn.

Can't remember seeing prices as low as this so long after they were released - I suspect this is an indication that a lot of folks are either going elsewhere or playing the waiting game before booking.

JF

Edit: Just looked at July, not so clever prices for then - £460 rtn with a hold bag!

Not good in October either - it may well be all down to the fact that there isn't that long to go till April but there is more than twice as long for things to pick up in time for for October. They probably won't, but easyjet aren't known for dropping prices, just starting low.

Yes August for us is around the £300 each mark, I'm sitting tight with those at moment.

For those that fancy a break in Istanbul on way to Dalaman, THY are £214 rtn to Istanbul from Edinburgh and Manchester and £150ish from Gatwick & Heathrow.  No extra charges for luggage etc and a far more pleasurable travel experience than with a budget or charter airline.

Cheap IST - DLM flights aren't released until three or four months before travel by THY but there is always Pegagsus from SG.

Remember that, with easyJet, you can get a refund (in the form of money off next booking) if you find your same flight (with same "extras"  ;) are on sale for a lower price than you paid. So I'll be scanning the April/May prices for June flights - for which I paid over £1700 for five of us.

P.S. Thomson aren't helping much with the Turkish tourist trade! I have just received an email from them titled "Fed up of turkey, how about Spain? Costa Rica? Cuba?".

Yes I received that email too - not very loyal to their Turkish associates - the Mutlu hotel for example who are Thomson only.

I think they meant turkey the bird, as opposed to Turkey the country. Still, not a very well thought out email.
