Unbelievable but true mercury. Heard this the other day, don't think they are  the only ones either, I"m pretty sure there was another tour operator offering cut price deals to Sharm but can't remember who.  :(

Thomas Cook released a statement saying that due to the FCO advice against travel to Sharm, they have cancelled all their flights there.

Till Thursday

I think the ongoing worry here would be some of the staff at the Airport, even after all the recent events, are still willing to take bribes.   Until the Egyptian authorities get a grip of this, (if they ever could) I cannot see many people travelling to Egypt in the near future.

A friend of mine, an Egyptian surgeon, says the country is run on bribes. You can expect to pay two or three bribes

to get medication or hospital treatment, pay many bribes to get a job and it's at all levels. He goes home for eight weeks

a year to visit family and friends and spends a lot of time treating poor people in a hospital for free. He says what he see's

going on around him in the hospital makes him ashamed of his profession. The only way I can see of making Egyptian Airports

safe would be Airlines and Holiday companies using their own staff to man the Airports but I can't see Egypt allowing that.

So, you think that, because the airlines and holiday companies in the UK employ their own staff there aren't any security breaches at UK airports ?

Nothing is perfect in this world but I know for sure which option I prefer for my safety.

Apparently Thomas Cook, Thomson and Monarch have all suspended flights to Sharm up to and including 25th November, EasyJet still to confirm it's plans.

Not too sure I'd make plans with any of them for now!  :o

True.

And how about security breaches in Turkey? A security staff member of Dalaman airport recently went to Syria to join IS. She got arrested in April because she had mentioned that she was going to blow herself up in the airport.
Don't want to think about what could have happened if she hadn't spoken about it.

My friends are booked for Sharm at Christmas with Thomson. They can't get an answer if there's a likelihood of the holiday going ahead.

British aviation experts looked at security at Sharm el-Sheikh just weeks before the alleged bombing of a Russian airliner but did not raise concerns about safety, a senior Egyptian official told The Telegraph
