We are going to the old lady's where my brother and family from Cheshire will be staying. A "buffy" is included.

Whatever we do it will end with Jools Holland's Hootenanny.

A 12 hour nightshift.

Got a houseful - friends over from Istanbul and up from Glasgow. Add on our girls and as yet undefined number of their friends means busy time.
No Jackie Bird, no Still Game and no Jools Holland.

Gone are the days when New Year was dominated by Andy Stewart and some silly bugger in each household
had to stumble around in the cold and dark outside, waiting to come in the front door carrying a lump of coal. ;)
-
Working till at least 3am maybe later looking after all of the drunks in the town centre ensuring everyone's safety etc .its a coppers life !

Our plans are now sorted. A couple of hours after Scunner opened this thread our next door neighbour came round to invite us to join a few family and friends for early drinks tonight. Following that Hilary has volunteered to cook us a meal: smoked salmon & prawns; ricotta and spinach stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in Parma ham with hedgehog potatoes; and her special orange pastry mince pies with home made tutti fruiti ice cream (my only contribution). Selecting the appropriate wines for each course will be a challenge!
[This is also my answer to the "Your favourite restaurant" thread.]

See, that's what you and the government have in common.
We're all in it together folks !

See, that's what you and the government have in common.
You are a foul-mouthed cad, blackguard and utter rotter. Happy New Year.
-
And up yours too ! ;)

Now, now boys, play nicely! ;). Not doing anything tonight for the first time since the children were small. Getting ready to cross off the main one on the bucket list. Off to NZ on Monday. Need to be fully rested and "dry" for the marathon journey. 8) ;D : :) :-* ;D ;D ;D

I just hope and pray wherever people go in their country, they are safe from the fanatics in the world today, sad to see Brussels has cancelled its new year celebrations . as for me, indoors heating on, good company, good wine, good food, and to hell with Calis prom. although I might wander down tomorrow to watch them nutters go in the sea. Happy new year to all. ps don't forget after tomorrow I will be back to nasty grumpy old Tory Des. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

H ad a nice home cooked beef curry, had a few glasses of wine so far. Cant be bothered to go out, too many drunks about later. Will just stay in with my new man, my son and the dog, Happy New Year to one and all x

We've just had an amazing 4 hours. Our kids and grandkids just bombed us as they knew we couldn't go out tonight. Eldest daughter, hubby and youngest granddaughter go back to LA tomorrow. 3 bottles of champagne, endless soft drinks for the kids and lots of 'dancing' and hilarity! They've all just gone and it's now so silent - but we're both dazed with joy and what will become fabulous memories.
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! ;D ;D
-
What a wonderful surprise lotty. :)
I've been thinking about family a lot this week.

Well, my quiet evening has taken a turn. My granddaughter, whose third baby was due on Boxing Day, has gone into labour! Still only going to be toasting it with a glass of Schloer though. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hope all goes well for them. Let us know which year the birth occurred.!! :)

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would tag on to this one.
Brenda and I would like to wish everyone on the Forum, their families and those close to them a very happy and above all a healthy 2016. :)
