Title: Information
Post by: marka on April 20, 2016, 13:16:26 PM
Hi All

Was going to give my apartment in Calis a miss this year but after looking at other places to go like Portugal or Malta decided to come back again to Calis.

We both felt after last years holiday and actually going in every restaurant along the front and beyond plus water taxi's over to Fethiye and the tourist sites for the past 6 years what else can we do.

Does anyone have any recommendations as we have done the boat rides 4 island 12 island, Sakilekent the old ruins car hire and drove places.

We do love Turkey and the people are friendly and you get a lot for your money so felt it is better the devil you know than the devil you do not know and booked our flights again.

We do come out at the hottest time of the year end July for a couple of weeks due to school holiday as we have a 9 year old. We also have our own bikes (pedal) for site seeing local.

I am sure their are lots more places to go which are not sold to you down at the front and with Hiring a car you can get their yourself.

Even places like Olu Deniz used to be good but does not appeal to me anymore as really changed over the years as I did go their first about 20 years ago.

Thanks

How about a day at the new Water World in Ovacik,, your 9 year old will love it. Then there is breakfast at the nomad museum in Kargi, best breakfast around and the museum is really interesting. Then you could drive down to Kas and Kalkan for the day - am sure other members will have lots more ideas.

Isparta/Egirdir Lake. Advise staying on peninsula of lake. Air-con comes free of charge i.e early evening the wind whips across and enables a good sleep most important in July as you know!!  :)

Hi Marka
There is a whole section on places to visit.  Some of them are the usual bars and restaurants but I'm sure you'll find something different to do if you have a browse

We love to visit Kirk Pinar for breakfast too.  Drive up through Uzumlu and Nif, keep going on up the mountain and watch for the sign post on the right hand side.  Nothing else there though so we usually come back down to Uzumlu for a wander in the afternoon

Drive up to Dalyan and visit Kaptan June and the turtle sanctuary at Iztuzu Beach - it takes an hour or so.
The beach is gorgeous and sandy and there always seems to be plenty of room - one of my favourite days out.

You can also get a water taxi from Dalyan itself to the beach, but they dock at the opposite end of the beach to the turtle place.
It takes a good hour or so to walk from one end to the other, which was quite nice in October - but the children might not appreciate it, especially in the fiercest summer heat!

Drive up to the top of Babacan mountain and watch the para gliders and enjoy the fantastic views sitting at the wonderful restaurant.I walk around Kaya old village then down to one of the BBQ restaurants and cook your food with a ice cold beer. Drive to Kemer and go on the cable car and then back past the wonderful towns of Kas and Kalkan.

It is Kemer near to Antalya and it goes to MT Olympos, not sure about Dolmus but there is a web site you can check.Me I would hire a car and drive there along the coast road and it takes roughly a few hours at a steady pace.
