Title: National "What" Day
Post by: Highlander on July 18, 2016, 19:20:53 PM
The last time I posted something like this it fell like a lead balloon. But undaunted, here goes

Radio Five ran this earlier today. You have to nominate what you would have as a National Day.

e.g. National "don't drop litter" day OR National "cover up the naff tattoos" Day.

What would yours be.

National "not using anything electrical" day.

No tv, mobiles, pc's, tablets, kettles (unless on a gas hob or open fire), telephones.

I spent a few days with the Amish people in Ohio a while back.

Bliss.

Couldn't cope in the long term but what a relaxing way to be.

Orthodox Jews do that every week.

National Honesty day. That'd be good for a laugh, although they'd have to have it during parliament recess.

National Ban on Text-Speak Day.

This just seen on a Facebook group timeline from my old hometown:

'Any1 no wot events in town this wend? Kid-free n defiantly* up 4 a gd nite out!'

*I suppose one could argue that she does mean this rather than 'definitely'.

How about National sack a politician day?

Text the name of your least favourite incumbent to 84552 by 18.00hrs and whoever gets the most texts will be off the payroll by 20.00hrs.

Yes, remember that from my time in Liverpool.  I had a lot of Jewish friends... Including a boyfriend.

Today is Yorkshire Day. Flat caps, whippet racing and Yorkshire pudding tossing. Oh those quaint Northerners eh? Don't suppose we will be seeing Stoop today: he'll be practicing for this evening's ferret strangling event.

National Jimmy Krankie Day in Scotland.  That will really annoy our leader.

Now, now Colwyn. I'm pretty sure we could uncover some quaint West Country traditions without trying too hard!   ;)

Happy Yorkshire day to all fellow Tykes out there in God's Own County!   ;D

Lasses, show your other half you love him this Yorkshire Day by whispering those romantic words in his ear, "I'll do the bins".

We've been out for a half price lunch at our newly re-furbed Hungry Horse. Now I'm just basking in the enjoyment of Yorkshire occupying part of Lancashire with the extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  :)

Now for Leeds United to get promotion  :)
