following recent events how are both locals and tourists feeling in Calis? We're due out there again in three weeks and just wondering how things are.

It's definitely quieter out here for this time of year.however the people out here are enjoying themselves just the same.

In Calis its pretty much business as it was before last Friday.
I sat in Sultans in Fethiye today having coffee...my head is still reeling from last weekends gruesome images.
There was a lot of people in Sultans, but it was quiet. People werent chatting much, same on dolmus to and from town.
Peoples heads and hearts are heavy with worry about what happens next I think.
My love affair with Turkey took a big hit last weekend. Im an upbeat positive person but really dont think there's any positives to come from this.
Last night we were on a boat for a friends birthday.
As we watched a stunning sunset, folk dancers, belly dancer and a knife thrower surrounded by stunning scenery I felt sad that there's nowhere else in the world we could be doing that, and nowhere else I would want to be.
We all talked and it was a bit like group therapy, talk of sticking together and enjoying it for as long as we can.
I think like many of us here, Im still trying to catch up on sleep, still reading everything to try and make sense of it and feeling a real helplessness and desperation about all the arrests and whats going to happen next.
I keep thinking how we have freedom of movement and can leave but how terribly sad it must be for all the Turkish secularist supporters.

I think most expats in Calis love the people, the weather, and feel they are far away from the troubles,
and are just enjoying life as it comes,

I think it's more than that Davy.
A lot have invested their life savings and are worried sick whats going to happen.
Many lived in a seaside bubble and shrugged off politics and it's always surprised me how some dont have a clue about whats what in their adopted home.
Everyones had to sit up and try and get their heads round this.
Sadly its not about being far away now, the whole country may change.
Different for tourists though of course.
