Just an update to the new dolmus card. The new card is called a Mugla kentkart and can be used instead of cash on all the local dolmus and larger buses. The card can be bought for 5TL at the SEMBOL market at the dolphin roundabout opposite the new Migros. The card can be loaded in the shop when you purchase it. It is then held against the reader when you enter the bus and a fare from calis to fethiye costs 2TL a saving of 50Kr compared with cash. If there are more in your party the card can be presented to the machine multiple times.
You can download an app called kentkart from the app stores and once you have registered you can charge the card using the app via a credit card. Once charged online you need to wait 1.5hrs before using it and remember to tell the driver to press the recharge button on his consol before you present it and the machine will automatically update the amount on the card. The app also logs your journeys and if you click on the bus stops on the google map incorporated in the app it will tell you when the next bus is due. It will also tell you how to get to your nearest recharge shop. If you have an NFC supported mobile phone you can use your phone instead of the card after you have used the app to set it up. l hope this helps you to get started with this new technology. P.S. the new bus timetables should be available in the next few days from the dolmus station in Fethiye.

How long has it been 2.5TL from Calis to Fethiye? I was only paying 2 two weeks ago!

Is there an expiry on the credit does anyone know please eg if i top it up say 40tl and dont use it all then dont come back until April next yr will i lose the credit thsts left on it thanks to anyone in the know! :)

It looks like saving a " widows mite" on the buses, looks like Turkey is too expensive for you .
-
That seems a bit harsh to reply like that. kareninna was only asking if she would lose credit put on this year. That seems to be a logical question to me. How long does this credit last?
-
Not really understanding your reply to my question Casaclugga...
Thank you Lissa that is exactly my question no point topping up the card with a lot of money if i cant use it, in the same way I would not top up my vinn wifi with loads of gb as with that I know you defo lose it!
-
I have an over 65 card which cost 10 Lira and which is free after the initial payment. This is renewable after 1 year so I would assume the Kent card is the same.

Hi Karen.
The card itself costs 5tl.
I would assume the credit doesnt expire although on fb someone said that in Antalya they got a new mayor who changed card providers.
To be on safe side I would top up just what youll need til next time.

Okey dok thanks Linda that is what Il do...i loved it no faffing for coins just swiped my card though i felt a bit nostalgic for the old dolmuses sado that I am in my old age! ;)
-
Im also feeling nostalgic. I loved the old ones and thought the colour coding was great.
So many abandoned all around and contemplated buying one and converting to a motorhome but the logistics are so complicated in terms of change of use and insurance.
Thanks for clarifying Wickwilly.

I do hope this is a joke?
-
I agree with Keyakebab I also liked the colour coding, it made it so easy.
PS Great idea though Kayakebab! If it wasn't so difficult you could have a lot of fun travelling around Turkey. My friends bought an old company VW van years ago in UK, they even took it abroad and had many memorable, fun holidays. 8)

Well if it is, it's gone right over my head.
Maybe the OP could clarify it for us simple souls...

Went to look at a motorhome a couple of weeks ago inspired by Nichola's recent travels.
Fell in love and was already planning until we found out the insurance on it was 5300tl this year.
Now looking for a larger car to fit our camping gear more easily!

Got the Calis to Fethiye dolmus today for the first time this year and see that the price has gone up. It's now 2.25 tl with your Kent Kart or 2.75tl for cash.
-
Yes it went up a couple of weeks ago.
-
Going off topic slightly, let don't know how the rest of you feel but I really hate the new design dolmuş! Uncomfortable seating with no legal room, too many different levels to get up and down and yes I know they are supposed to be disabled friendly, but I've only seen the lift gadget used once. It ended up that the driver couldn't work out how to use it so it ended up with him and his mate hoisting up the guy and his wheelchair between them.
Whoever was responsible for commissioning these busses ought to be made to sit on them and ride around Fethiye all Day!
-
Totally agree with you over the comfort of the newly designed Dolmus. Also it seems that they are less frequent than they used to be and hence more overcrowded.
-
Jacqui and I went to the air games in Olu last year ( not he best time to be on a Dolmus ), stood all the way clinging on to each other. We got off feeling as if we'd spent 45 minutes in a tumble dryer. Much preferred the old ones with a bit more space.
-
Me too Philrose no leg room hardly and so hard to manevoure bags of shopping and having to ' go up to one of the seats higher up" I like the swiping of the card and not having to worry about giving money to the driver but thats as far as it goes oh and not being able to stop them anywhere I really missed that
-
I don't like the back seats being higher up, I can't see out the front without stooping and I get a bit dolmus sick :-\
-
2.20 on the dolmus with the Kent Kart .... Or 2.75 lira.... Saving 1.10 lira for 2 of us... Every time...Everyone's a winner!!!
-
Will be arriving tomorrow and intend using Kent Card . Does anyone know if they are available (to buy) near the Otogar? or if not, nr Post Office in town?
-
There is a list of places that supply the cards here...
http://www.mugla.bel.tr/hizmetler/kent-kart/kent-kart-dolum-noktalari/fethiye
Nearest to the post office in town is just past the Jandarme building in one of the stationers there. I can't remember the name but there is a Kent Kard sign hanging outside..
-
Thanks for reply Phil did look at this previous post you gave but (probably age related :angel :)but unable to make out where the outlet was. Just wondered if there could have been any additional ones now the system is in full swing?
-
They're also available in the Belidiye building behind the main PTT in Fethiye
-
Many thanks Liz had an inkling that it was somewhere near PTT but if it's in Belidiye offices. then no problem.
