Whereabouts on the main street are the Dolmus stops please? Are they keeping to the rules now or do they still just stop when asked? We usually get on/off at the wooden bridge and also up Baris manco near Uckun Market - just wondering if there are many "proper" stops :-\
-
Look out for signs with a white "D" on a blue background or a black "D" on a white background.
-
Just had a "google earth walk" up and down B Manco and not seen one! :o
-
Well I hope that they are still stopping when you need them.
That's what we love about being on Baris Manco, door to front service and back :)
-
Going away from the beach isn't there one by the Cahide Bar?
-

If only you (and us) were home of an evening when they were still running :) :) :)
-
to our friends back home. dolmuses still stopping wherever you WANT on baris manco. trust me.
-
Thank you Jack13 - pleased to hear it - such a great service, would have missed it.

P155ed again ? ;)

No Change at the moment. Just like before.
-
Thanks Jackstee - there were differing opinions elsewhere - some saying they were only stopping at bus-stops and others saying 'same as usual - stop anywhere'
-
I got a Dolmuş 2 weeks ago Bluwise. It beeped and stopped for me and i wasn't at a bus stop. Also the driver done the same on our way to Fethiye town centre. No bus stop, stopped for a family.
-
Iv read that in Tasyaka that the new rules are being adhered to, a lady posted on facebook this week that two had gone sailing past her they werent full or anything but she had not heard about the new designated stops...
-
I have noticed the service is very quiet after 9pm in Fethiye, we used to get on a bus straight away even if we had to sit
for a few minutes before it left, but now have to sit on the seats at the station and wait till one arrives for Gunlukbasi buses.
I think they have cut the service down a bit, but seem to stop at the DS in Town, but stop anywhere out of Town.

I have travelled on the Sahilden dolmus from Fethiye to Calis and back in the last 3 weeks, some buses do stop anywhere but others do not. Even on the 22 metre road, close to the turning for Esnaf hospital, one dolmus just sailed past people who were not waiting at a designated stop.I think it is just up to each individual dolmus driver. Mind you, it makes the journey a lot quicker as they are not ambling along looking for passengers. There does seem to be regular designated stops but sorry, I do not know the ones for Baris Manco as only take the Sahikden bus. There is now a service that goes from Catalarik to Tasyaka, also using the route past the Devlet hospital and court house, so be careful you get the correct dolmus as it does not go right into Fethiye!
-
The 'rules' changed on the 1 st August and there are posters in the Dolmus stating only official bus stops can be used. However on the way to Fethiye we jumped on at a random stop on BMV without a problem. Coming back from Fethiye, there was an Inspector on the Dolmus and it was official stops only! We wanted off at dolphin roundabout which is not an official stop, but the Inspector had fallen asleep and the driver opened the doors at the traffic lights and let us off. :)

fallen asleep? Sounds like an episode of on the buses, blakey!!!!!

There are now two types of dolmus.
The older style co-operative dolmus seem to operate exactly as before, picking up and dropping off anywhere.
The newer style - and less comfortable but cheaper fare, I have been told - are Belediye (council) dolmus and they adhere to the bus stop rule for picking up and dropping off.
Whether they run the same routes in competition to each other, I do not know, as I never use them being a car driver.
-
Speaking of which - I thought you and your OH were considering hiring a car next time you are here?

Well today I got a dolmus to Gunlakbasi we normally stand on the pavement off the carriageway about opposite the Bezay hotel, today I thought Id better walk up to a designated D stop so I did even though there was a poxy van in the way of the busstop, i needed to get off for Kipa so said thecmagic words and the driver stopped...coming back laden down with shipping bags i just stood on the pavement saw a Calis bus put my arm out and he stopped same getting off said the magic words and he stopped, i noted ( Turkish) folk were asking the driver to stop where they wanted to get off...
Both buses i used were the new style bus ( dont like em!)
-
Well I'm glad to hear that the dolmus are doing as they have before - it is indeed a great service for the elderly, the infirm and those with young children. Oh and the rest of the population when it is just too darn hot!
I stopped to give a middle aged couple a lift the other day as they struggled in the heat going up the very steep (and long) hill near my house. They'd obviously been to the supermarket as they were laden with several heavy Şok carrier bags and two 5 litre bottles of water.
The wife practically fell into the back seat of my car, puffing and sweating profusely and cursing at her husband like a docker. Apparently he'd said 'the exercise would do them good' whereas she said, "!!**$$ ?***!! ** !!!!!!" ;D
-
Mrs was really peed of last night.
They got us. They would not drop us of next to the house but took us 400 meters passed to the Dolly stop.
A women said to me its the rules, I asked whos but she wouldn't answer. Most of the other passengers were on our side but admitted that being Turkey it might or might not, happen on each Dolly.
The river also missed many pick ups and I was told he was on a salary so didn't need extra fares
-
Apparently it's always been the official rule that they should only stop at proper stops, it's just never been heeded before.
I've used the buses quite a bit recently due to both of us needing the car at the same time and it really does seem to be the luck of the draw - I'd say of the drivers I've experienced, it's a 50:50 split as to those who pick up and drop off anywhere and those who only use the proper stops.
It does seem to be only in Fethiye/Calis though; it's still wherever/whenever through Ovacik and Hisaronu and into Kaya.
-
A friend of mine told me they will pick up or drop off anywhere going Calis Gunlukbasi road to Fethiye.
but when they get past Migros, they only stop at the DS.
-
still finding that anywhere on baris manco/huzurevi routes there are no problems.
-
Aaah well. If anyone knows where the designated stops actually are on B Manco and also near Dolphin R/bout I would be grateful.
-
bluwise - going in the Gunlukbasi direction there is a stop almost directly opposite the Chemist, maybe 50m from the roundabout.
Think there may also be one about half way between the Viewing Point and the roundabout.
-
Thanks H -

It used to be called Café Fenomen
-
Ahh yes, I know it now I've seen the pic. Thanks.
-
You would think they would have a stop up beside the Citroen garage too. There's a lot of houses and apartments at the top of the road. Cahide is a quarter of the way to the front from there.
-
Anne, there's an official stop just by the market virtually next to Violet, close enough for you?? ;)
-
Try saying "Dur. Kusmam gidiyorum". They'll stop wherever you want to get off.
-
hasta KKOB - as I understand the youngsters say these days. ;)
-
maybe the NEXT time your in calis you could try that. just saying
-
Maybe you should stop being a dick, just saying.

Missed this earlier :)
Brilliant, thanks Liz

In the last 4 days we haven't had any problems stopping the Dolly's between stops on B Manco. The "D"s are appearing overnight too - one at the end of our road now ;D Happy Days!
