My wife and i so looked forward to our chill out in Calis after all my medical problems / operations i have been through since easter To meet up with our many friends who we know will be there and many Turkish friends we have made over the many years but alas not to be..

You could always walk there Ron, on the basis you're sounding like CBF's very own Bionic Man plus your physiotherapist would be really impressed :) or alternatively:
Catch the 15:45 to Istanbul from London St Pancras (http://www.seat61.com/Turkey.htm#.V8Q-aJgrK70)

On this and other recent threads people have asked about meeting up with other members: perhaps resuscitate the CBF badge, or chose a time and and place. Here's a suggestion. How about making a t-shirt with your avatar. The advantages are that if people recognize you and want to avoid you then they can ("Oh look it's that obnoxious Colwyn over there let's go to another bar!" ;) or if they like they can introduce themselves, and if you've met enough CBFers for one day you can change into the spare t-shirt you've brought with you. Of course some people may wish to change their avatar and it is needed by people who feature photos of themselves (imagine having two Highlander faces looking at you!)

If they look carefully your friends may well see the bear as well!

Better contact UN World Wildlife. That will be the first sighting ever in the Mediterranean.
-
Lions,n tigers n bears oh My!
-
Strong stuff that Efes. And apparently it has also been known to cause hallucina'tions.
But there again loins are a common sight on some beaches, even bare loins.
-
Strong stuff that Efes.
With Efes you might see seals. Sea lions surely require serious quantities of raki.
-
Ive used the latter option on many many occasions, to the point where you can't see bugger all let alone Sea lions.
-
Good idea Colwyn
-
I thought so too at first but how many avatars could people recognise.
Who for example has purple flowers as theirs :)
-
Well we can all swot up can't we :D :D ;) : :)

Just thought the sea lions post would get this kind of replies, our turkish friend we told said the same we never get sea lions here but he said it was a sealion when he saw the video I took, unfortunately the picture I took I didn't capture the head, too big to be a seal & no dorsal fin to be a dolphin, maybe it was Loch Ness???

I believe there is only one species of seal in the Mediterranean - the Mediterranean Monk Seal. The males are about the same size as male sea lions but the females are much larger than female sea lions (Seal male = 315kilo, 2.4m/sea lion male = 300kilo,2.4m; seal female 300kilo, 2.4m/sea lion female 100kilo, 1.8m). So it is far more likely to have been seals than sea lions - which live in the Pacific Ocean and parts of the Southern Atlantic. However, there are reckoned to be less than 700 individual seals left in the Med so if they were a Monk seals then a sighting of a couple would be a very rare event.
Well worth contacting a Turkish wildlife organization with your video to see if they verify this exceptional sighting.
-
I've made arrangements to meet a couple of CBFers at Lee's Bar, at lunchtime on Wednesday, September 21st; if anyone would like to join us, the more the merrier!!!
-
Thanks colwyn that's what I thought after searching sealions in turkey but when I read that there were estimated fewer than 700 I questioned whether this was the case of the 2 swimming just off the shore.
-
Worth following up. But they will be seals not sea lions.

Following Colwyn's suggestion I am thinking of having this one made in case I am walking just ahead of CBF members on the prom.
