Title: Kargi Koyu Yoruk Muzesi - Museum and Animals
Post by: shandy on September 23, 2016, 22:11:23 PM
I don't know if anyone has posted about this place before and the horrendous animal cruelty here but I just wanted to make people aware of what is going on.

Apparently this scum bag has been in trouble in past years for the cruelty to his Donkeys, several have been taken away.  Yesterday a lady posted a picture on the Animal Aid FB page asking for urgent help for a young foal that was dying.  This despicable man removes babies from their mothers so he can take and sell their milk!

As someone who has owned a rescue donkey for 18 years this breaks my heart, they are loyal, loving animals and are eager to please, they do not show pain even if they are suffering.  Please, please don't visit this place

This has been an ongoing problem for several years up there. Shocking practice.

Shandy thank you for posting this.  Having seen the original posting on the Animal Aid page I had intended to comment on here about the situation, but was waiting until I'd heard the outcome following the visit by the authorities (nothing known yet). Irrespective of their reputation for fabulous Turkish Breakfasts, how can any right-minded person endorse this business knowing the loathsome way they treat animals for profit.
I apologise if the attached images are distressing, but if it changes your mind about using or recommending this place then it's worth it.  I just hope this wee foal was rescued in time.

I thought this was old news, something that AA addressed and put to bed years ago. How sad to hear it is still the case. I'd never spend my money in a place that acts in this way and I hope others will be likewise - and spread the word.

It's shocking and disgusting that this horror of a human being can continually get away with such cruelty.
Surely there are laws in place to have him prosecuted

We have voted with our feet for the past 6yrs. I have never recommended this place, their are plenty of fab places that do a good Turkish breakfast, some better.  I know the authorities have been called, lets hope this poor baby is rescued ( I know a lady is interested in adopting it, from far away, but he has to give permission)and the bar stool gets prosecuted, again.....He sells the donkey milk for a cure for cancer etc, do people actually believe this nonsense!!!

Wrote about the cruelty0 to the animals on Trip Advisor years ago. They refused to publish claiming I'd  never been there. Go figure....

The best way to hit people who ruthlessly pursue money is in the pocket. Share this topic on Facebook etc and spread the word.

Very sad to read this as we have been to Kargi and always enjoyed the breakfast.  I think we will try Nif this time and not give our business to Kargi again.
However, the place is always full of Turkish people, so I doubt the owner will be worried about us Brits not visitiing.

Sovalye Island will be our new breakfast experience this time. Never this place.

Does anyone know what happened to the poor foal?  I've been told the authorities have been informed but no one seems to know the outcome.  As someone who owned a Donkey for 20 years this breaks my heart knowing how loving and loyal they are.  I have to say I fear the worst

Shandy. I 've been making enquiries following your latest post.  All the necessary authorities have been informed according to a Turkish acquaintance of mine. and also that a vet was present when the authorities were called out. Sadly there is no news on the foal which doesn't bode well.  Will let you know when I hear anything further.

I got the same information today.  I'm still not convinced that this will put an end to this sorry business though.

I wonder, has the foal been taken away or are they keeping it?  If they are selling the milk, there will be not a lot left for the foal.
We love Kargi, but will not be visiting now.  However, it will make little difference unless someone can get this news to all the Turks that use the place, we see very little Brits there and it is always packed.

Is it worth stating on trip advisor  (as someone has) for this place the animal cruelty? Surely that will do something to affect there business, never been here myself but will look out for it when next in calis.

Will do no good Pompeylee,  The Turks pack the place out, they don't feel the same as us about animals. So, the business will not be effected at all.  We are usually the only Brits there when we visit and we always visit with a Turkish friend.
It is also not in Calis, so no point in lookng out for it. It is out at Kargi, about 15 minutes drive into the country from Calis and the Mayor of Kargi owns the place.
