Fairly easy on the dolmus Gill. They go from just behind the petrol station just past the old fire station on the back road. No idea of cost, it's been a while

Organised excursions go there, usually to Tlos and Saklikent. Jeep safaris go to Saklikent but just stop at Tlos for photos generally. Easy to get a dolmus if you just want to go to Saklikent, as Liz said. I have seen the dolmus for Saklikent at the dolmus stop just up from the big mosque in Fethiye.  The stop where buses also go to Oludeniz, but just down the road nearer to the mosque.

My recommendation is arrive as early as you can (IIRC it opens at 8:30). That way you beat the organised coach parties and jeep safaris.

We drove there and arrived by 9am, virtually had the gorge to ourselves on the way in  - by the time we headed back out, there were hundreds coming up the gorge and just as many waiting to get in at the gates!

Also, one other tip, as it was our first time, we hired one of the guides (70TL) - well worth the cost as her took us way beyond where we would have felt comfortable without his knowledge. And, now we know, we'll do it on our own from now on.

Good to get off the dolmus at Tlos and look around.  There is a nice restaurant there for a drink and then go get the next dolmus to Saklikent.  We actually preferred Tlos a very interesting place.  The BBQ lunch is good at Yaka Park which is also the way to Saklikent but, I think, only if you drive yourself, or get a coach trip.

I would agree with Jacqui, Tlos is very interesting and it would be a pity to not see it if you are in that area, It is reputed to be where Pegasus, the winged horse flew from, with Bellaraphon. Who knows what is fact and what is fiction? Tlos has ruins from lots of historical periods, an ottoman castle, Lycian rock tombs, Roman baths, theatre and a huge, what I think must be a stadium of some sort. If you haven't been to the museum in Fethiye it is certainly worth a visit, artefacts from this whole area are displayed there. It is very close to the Tuesday market site.
The restaurant at Yaka park is close to Tlos, not on the way to Sakilkent.
