Title: Name this insect please.

In the garden today, did not want to move away, everytime we tried to lift it, it would fly off and come back. Quite big over 3" long I would say.

Rather boringly, I suspect that it is a Green Leaf Insect.

Well I was going to call it Jimmy...Jimmy Cricket....   It's body is like a pea pod.  I spoke to a friend who had one in her kitchen and it would not leave, eventually her cat killed it.  She lives here and did not know what it was.

Common Names: Snouted grasshopper, Long-headed grasshopper, Mediterranean Slant-faced Grasshopper.

Latin Name: Acrida hungarica

Thought it was a praying mantis..either way these things scare me shirtless  :o :(

We could hardly see it's head, I surmised that it did not have a sting so did try to pick it up,but it kept jumping out of my hands.  I actually like these big insects.  I love the dragonflies that come in all manner of colours.

This is one of the nicer creatures here, see them often and they always seem so tame, they don't move until after you've fetched the camera and took a few snaps.
