Post by: susuz on August 21, 2005, 21:35:01 PM: High everyone - just to introduce ourselves - Paul and Sue.
We have just had a wonderful experience purchasing property
in Calis! Although we had done our research beforehand and
had arranged to see Heidi and Keith, we were taken round by
the inevitable "bar friend" and two agents. They seemed
but got very pushy when we didn't find anything interesting.

From the moment that Heidi and Keith got involved, they made
our decision making so much easier and it was not long before
we began the process of purchasing our first apartment in Calis!
We look forward to getting to know others on the forum and
will no doubt have questions as time goes by as we have bought
off-plan with an anticipated May 2006 completion date. 8)

final completion. Apparently the builder expects to complete in March
but Heidi says this is unlikely due to the weather and to expect
completion in May.
We can't wait to come over - we will need to sort out all the
furniture and stuff - not sure if it is best to just leave this
in the hands of the agent or to get involved ourselves.
We've got lots of time to decide though.

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations. We bought a new completed property but at this time last year were in a similar position to you. We visited in January and April but have not yet been in season or been in our pool. Five weeks on Friday and counting.:D:D:D

We will probably look into furnishing it ourselves by the sound of it - although when Heidi took us around to look at some of the other properties there was one that I wouldn't want to copy - not mentioning any names to protect the innocent!

I bet it's hard not being able to go out there and see progress for yourselves.... We'll just have to be patient .... don't know how good I'll be at this though - we've only been home 2 days!

We usually stay in Olu Deniz but went to look at land for someone last year in Calis - we really liked what Calis had to offer so decided to buy in the area

We will need advice on best bars and restaurants so any help on that would be great. Our youngest daughter (she's nearly 17) loves Hisaronou for the clubs so presumably she'll have to get a taxi there if she comes with us [?]

Post by: puma on August 22, 2005, 10:39:40 AM: a dolmus goes to hisaronou from the bus station in fethiye, they stop running at 1pm.
when we were there last week we asked the price of a taxi to come back and he quoted us 40ytl,we got him down to 35ytl but that was still expensive, if there are more of you ,the cost can be split

She will probably bring at least one friend with her so this will help to keep costs down - especially if she gets a dolmus to Hisaronou and just gets the cab back.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. We bought this time last year and have never looked back! I would recommend furnishing yourself as it's a great experience and we had loads of fun doing it. There is loads of info on here ref furnishing but if there's anything in particular that you can't find then you can always ask as someone usually knows the answer.

Post by: lindi on August 22, 2005, 13:33:00 PM: We bought most items in Fethiye. There is a good choice of shops and you'll find everything you need there. Eren Spot (Fethiye) is a good starting point and don't be put off by appearance as it's stacked high but the goods and service are excellent.

Is it usual for apartments just to be painted cream or white in all the rooms [?]

Our apartment is in the centre of Calis and had been previously owned by Germans - we had it completely refurbished during the winter. The walls had all been painted white and it looked really drab - we decided to go for different pastel colours in all the rooms - what a difference the colour has made - everyone has remarked how nice it looks.

after 2 weeks holiday and getting taxis back from h
my daughter and friend ended up paying just 20 ytl
negouiate the price first, say next taxi will do it cheaper etc etc

Carol - we have bought a new apartment on the site of the market. They're going to be called the 'Yildiz Apartments'. We have bought number 12.

We are really looking forward to going out there next year - depending on how the building gets on may be we will even be able to go out at Easter. We will have to wait and see and hopefully meet up with you one day!
