Title: Another "oops" moment for the wee fella
Post by: JohnF on June 05, 2017, 07:49:23 AM
Turkey and Qatar have been getting pretty cosy over the past few years with billions of dollars of investments in Turkish industries and lots of nice happy words flowing back and forward between Ankara and Doha.  They've bought Digiturk, two banks (Finansbank & ABank) and have a 50% share in BMC, Turkeys defence company.  Real estate investment in Istanbul and Ankara worth billions is all from Qatar.

All sounds rosy   :)

Today: Major headlines across the world, "Four gulf countries cut ties with Qatar due to their funding of terrorist operations".

Egypt, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi all reckon Qatar is funding IS.  It's a bit rich for Saudi to complain, they're one of the worst feckers for this kinda stuff, but such is international diplomacy.

Now, what was it Wikipedia got banned for...?

Yemen and Libya now joined in.  I wonder if some of these countries have maybe had a wee think about recent events in the UK and are trying to distance themselves from possible retribution, militarily or economic?

How much were the bribes, sorry - inducements to get the World Cup?  And will it go ahead?

One of the wee fellas sycophantic media outlets, The Daily Sabah, are bitching today (https://www.dailysabah.com/turkey/2017/06/12/egypt-blocks-daily-sabah-and-other-turkey-based-websites-widening-media-blackout-1497228141) because the Egyptian government have blocked access to their web site due to them being affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood or receiving funding from Qatar.

Karma...   :)
