Hi everyone.
My name's Elsa and my family and I visited Calis in Turkey in July/August this year - the first time since 1988.  When we last visited Fethiye we couldn't buy property.  You had to be Turkish or have a Turkish partner with 51% share.  When we arrived this year we took the 'plunge' quite unexpectantly and bought a beautiful property as an 'investment' - we'll probably keep it though!.  We're visiting again at half term (I'm in education an so have to have non-term hols) for 4 days to furnish it.  Not very long I know and we hope to do everything in that time!  Can't have the whole week as my 16 year old daughter has to work on Sundays!  Anyway, lovely to meet you all and thanks for the invaluable information gleened to date!

Hi Elsa and family and welcome to the forum.
Congratulations on your buying a property. Dont worry though about only having 4 days to furnish your place as we did ours in 1 day as erin spot delivered everything that eve, lol
Where is your property ? and is it a house or an appartment ?
If you need to know anything then either do a search or just ask.
Take care
jan & Russ

Hi Elsa
Welcome to the forum and congratulations.  It's a great feeling owning a place in the sun isn't it?
As Jan and Russ have already said Erin Spots the place to go for furniture, he usually delivers the same day.
Good luck and happy shopping.
Anne

Hi Elsa,

We've been coming since 1989 so I'm sure you must have noticed many changes since you were last here.

Believe me , 4 days will be a push but it's 'dooable'

You'll have a whale of a time spending money.

Good luck with everything :)

Congratulations Elsa, where is your new place roughly? 4 days is plenty of time to get most of your stuff and Bekir at the spot shop does deliver VERY quickly, you may have to rush to get home first.

Have fun - but you will be shattered

Teresa

Our place is a duplex - standing with your back to the river taxi's, up the road, straight over the roundabout and about 2nd left (opposite placard for Peace Apartments), and 1st junction apartments in front of you.  Called Lily Apartments.

Hi Elsa

Well done with your purchase.  We have also bit the bullet and have a 2 bedroom apartment.  My wife is also in education and are limited to school holidays.  All being well we will be back for half term week in October.  Hopefully we can finalise the purchase and start to furnish the place.

hello everyone - I'm introducing me (Heather) and my husband (Eric) - we bought some footings and a plan (!) in May which we hope will be ready for early next year.  We're visiting in October to look at furniture and fittings and so on so we can do the furnishings from UK.  Just really excited about having our own place in the sun (though not the hottest months) that we can visit at any time.  Both in our 50's (me only just) so work becoming less of a pressure and leisure time becoming more important.

Hi Elsa
Welcome to the Forum.  Good to have another Padfield on here.  Not too many of us around!

We, too, have bought and are planning to make a trip in October to furnish our place.  Hope our furniture orders don't get mixed up.  Unless, of course, the stuff you're ordering is better than the stuff I'm ordering!

When we go next time - (2 weeks and 3 days)we intend to have a holiday!

elsa
if you brought a new house the builder or estate agent could help you out,
are all properties on the site finished?
have you recieved your tapu yet?if not there may be a longer delay as goverment starts back to work and new policies being worked out.
you do pay the house tax at the beledisie behind gima(also the water bill here)
this is usually in may(i think)once a year
as said before your estate agent can help you to do all of these things, dont worry.

hi elsa

we too have just signed contracts on a villa in calis, rose villas, we came over for two weeks in August, but fell in love with the place and atmosphere. we bought as an "investment" but have not thought about anything else since we have been back and now plan to move out there when the children and able to fend for themselves back home, they are 14 and 11 at the moment, so we have a few years yet left in Boring Britain, we too are hoping to get out in October, to partly furnish our property, and have found the Forum brilliant in hints and tips.  i am sure neither of us will regret our decision it feels that we have got another lease of life and i am sure our friendship circle has grown, since word has got about that we now own a villa

good luck to you and your family
