It could be that it is down to it being a different day of the week, or an event happening locally. The biggest increase in the component parts of our summer holiday is the doubling of the parking cost at Manchester Airport - £49.99 two years ago, £99.99 this July.

In better news, having reeled from the collapse of Monarch Holidays, I have to say we still managed a decent deal for October, 11 nights at the 5* Jiva Beach Resort for £50 a day - £551 each including flights from Edinburgh, all inclusive and 24 hour bar

If I tell you that the flights are almost exactly the same price as the hotel, that makes it £25 a day each for accommodation, all inclusive and 24 hour bar

We use Holiday extras and Premier Inn.. try to book really early. As in as soon as you book your flights.. Oh and take Keith's advice and use Quidco..
