Only ever driven through Uzumlu years ago and didn’t stop. But is it a place you could go and spend a day wandering, sitting, eating, drinking etc.Can you get a dolmus from Calis and recommendations of what to do or where to go welcomed

It's a lovely place to spend a day. very peaceful. We got a domus from Gunlukbasi up to Uzumlu and then went walking all around. 2 or 3 nice places to eat. Think it was called the Winehouse where we had something to eat. Fascinating watching some of the locals at work.

I'll second that. We often spend and afternoon just wandering around in Uzumlu.
There are some great wee places dotted around for something to eat and as Toky has already said The Winehouse is a great spot to people watch.
If you wait at the Akdeniz patisserie on Gunlukbasi road you'll catch the dolmus before it turns up the hill towards Uzumlu.
Make sure you check the time of the last one back though as it can be earlier than you'd expect

Especially on a blisteringly hot Sunday afternoon as I recall :) :) :)

It is an interesting place to wander around with lace making quite prevalent.
Also worth walking up to Cadianda, although that is probably a bit over an hour's walk. (Quicker coming back as it is downhill!) Might be possible to get a taxi up, but worth a visit and worth the small entrance fee to wander around the old Roman city. Good views too.

David,we tried to drive to Cadianda via Uzumlu years ago in the winter time, bad move rock falls blocking road, stuck on the mountain with no phone signal etc, nearly went over the edge trying to get car out of rut .
What a day that was and if I suggested Cadianda to Mrs A I think she would lynch me.

If you are here 5-7th inc. the Üzümlü Mushroom Festival takes place over three days from morning to late evening...
-
Thanks Nichola but won’t be out until 7th June
-
That's a shame - worth booking to be here when it's on for those that come over regularly - it's busier than Notting Hill Carnival and just as much fun :)
-
I bet there aren't any stabbings or muggings in Uzumlu though. :)

"Stabbings and muggings" wasn't there a huge and controversial thread about someone beaten in a bar with a baseball bat or similar some years ago?
