Title: Registering of Turkish mobiles in Turkey
Post by: Karennina on April 19, 2019, 08:49:15 AM
For many years we managed without a Turkish mobile and last Nov decided to bite the billet and get one, nothing fancy not for internet as I like to use iPad for internet,
Anyway apparently everyone has to register/re register their Turkish mobile phone by May 2nd or it will be deactivated...
My question is this Iv read this morning that if your phone was preowned which ours was then you can’t register it you have to buy a new sim and get a new number...
Can anyone clarify this for me please? Thank u

I have a pre owned phone and reregistered it on Monday. I have residency. Another gentleman was unable to reregister his phone as they would not accept his visa. My wife tried to register her phone the following day. The system was down.

By the way, May 2nd is a "made up" date to get people to wiggle themselves. It is possible that the actual date may be months after.

Both myself and my wife re-registered our phones with Turkcell before receiving a text message.

It's the SIM that you are registering. Took mine to the Turkcell shop closest to the Jandarma station y'day, took no more than 5 minutes
