Title: traslation app for iphone
Post by: SteveJ on May 19, 2019, 16:42:28 PM
I was in a garedn supply shop in Fethiye today trying to buy weed killer. The guy in the shop didn't understand what I meant so he passed me his phone and said "speak". I simply said "weed killer" near to the phone and the Turkish translation appeared. I passed the phone back to the guy who read the screen, said "Ah" and trundled off to get me my weed killer.

Does anyone know what this app was and is it freely available from an app store?

TIA

The one I had was iTranslate, it is really good but not free after a 7 day trial - not worth it (to me) at around £3-£4 a month thereafter.

I use google translate on my iPhone and you can either speak or hold to the camera - excellent when trying to understand menu!  No fee to use.

I use a Turkish App called Sesli Sozluk for Turkish/English and vice versa. Is certainly better than Google translate and was recommended by Turkish tutor we had. It is free and available from Apps site.

I loaded it on my phone and it works fine here in Turkey. Just had a conversation with my Turkish neighbour and it came in very handy. I might have to uninstall it if it doesn't work when I get home.

I've just downloaded it to my Galaxy S6 in the UK and it works for text but there's no sound for pronounciation.

Hmmmm....I've downloaded it and it works fine in the Translation section of the navigation menu. Got both Turkish and English pronunciations and the Turkish language translation in writing.
