hello Im John, My wife Margaret and I have just come back from a 2 week holiday in Calis. We rented a lovely villa just on the outskirts of Calis beach and can tell you all it was a great holiday.We had been to Calis about 10 years ago but it was just a day visit and it m certainly has changed as in being more built up.We did meet a few couples who owned property in Calis and they all agreed that it was getting a bit over developed for their liking but they still loved the place. We certainly found our Turkish neighbours very friendly,always smiling and willing to teach us a few Turkish words which was fun.One Turkish couple gave us grapes everyday and even cooked us a Turkish meal. What lovely people they were.Having enjoyed our 2 weeks so much we are now seriously thinking of finding out more about buying a property out there. We can easily see why you are all so hooked on Calis now we have been there.....I could murder an Efes right now ha ha..

Hi John & Margaret, welcome to the forum, it doesn't really bother me about being over developed for 2 reasons, 1, i've only been going for 5yrs, so it was quite developed by then, 2, my appartment is right in the centre of Calis, right opposite the forum bar, which i will see in 5 days & I WILL murder an efes lol. Alan

Welcome to the forum. Great that you came back after all that time. It has changed over the years, some great, some maybe not bit it still has the warmest people you could ever wish to meet.

We bought a place last year and and love staying in our own little piece of paradise  :)

greetings john and margaret and welcome to the forum,we only visited calis last year and fell in love with the place and went and bought in catalarik,just 1/4 mile behind the police station in gunlukbasi,its not over developed and is quiet,and the complex is a mix of english and turkish,go for it while property is still reasonable

Hi John and Margaret, welcome to the forum and so pleased that you had a good time in Calis. We bought our house over a year ago and , like you, have found our Turkish neighbours to be friendly and generous. That is one of the main reasons that we like Tuekey so much. Hope you do manage to buy a property and I'm sure that if you do you won't regret it for one minute!.

Hi John and Margaret,  

Welcome to the forum.  Next year will be our 10th year of going to the area and yes it has changed in some ways but the friendliness of the people has always remained the same.  Last year we decided to buy a place and are so glad that we did.  Hopefully we will soon be over there full time!  Good luck with your property research.  You will find lots of info on here to help you.

we too stayed in Calis for two weeks in August loved it as well, and bought a villa, going back out on Monday 3rd Oct to finalise details and furnish it ready for the start of the season, saw your link about renting and have e mailed you, hope you take the plunge and buy you certainly won't regret it. this site is fantastic you can get quite addicted to it, but seriously it is a great tool to find out anything about living and buying in Turkey

We have been to our place in Calis 4 times this year and can't get enough of it. I would go again tomorrow if I didn't have to work.
