hello to all, I am a new member and my name is pat, I have been to calis beach several times now since my friend and neighbour of 20yrs up sticks and moved out there almost 3 years ago, until then I had never been to Turkey, and if I am honest I had no real wish to go (how I regret this now )our first visit was mainly to take out household items that had to be left behind by my friends as they simply couldnt carry any more.so we promised to take them out the following summer, thats when the love affair with calis began, we cant get enough of calis now and have met and made friends with many of the turkish people who make us welcome on every visit.last year we booked a last minute holiday but couldn't get one for calis so ended up in marmaris , " hated it " (sorry ! )so after 3days we stuffed some clothes in a bag and jumped on a bus and travelled for 3 and a half hours to calis, amazing journey and cost £3-60p each " bargain " spent the rest of the week in calis and went back to Marmaris in time to pick up our bags to come home.I am going back to calis on the 14/oct booked up last minute cheapy the other day staying at buse apartments, I know where they are but can anyone tell me what facilities they have i.e. hair drier,( a must as my daughter cant live without one ) kettle ( thats for me ) any advice would be welcome. thank you

Hi makemwonder, welcome to the Forum. Funny how Marmaris has that effect on some people we lasted a day before rushing back to Calis. Mind you Hisaronu was the same for us we booked for 2 weeks there and spent every day on the Dolmus to and from Calis and Fethiye!

We have our own place in Calis now Pat, we had visited Turkey for many years and then took the plunge. I will keep an eye out for you, you shouldn't be too difficult to spot! We will probably be waiting for cases at the same time and in the departure lounge in Newcastle.

hello lolly, thaks for the welcome, we lasted 2 days, only because we thought we would see if icmeler( excuse the spelling )was any better and the decision was a unanimous uh uh. so when we got back to the hotel we were sat on our balcony having a quiet drink and taking in the exhaust fumes from the busy streets below and I said oh lets get the bus to calis tomorrow, my husband agreed without taking a breath, then I thought why wait lets go now.so within 5 mins flat we were on the dolmus heading into town to catch the bus to calis.BLISS. been to Hisaronu also and I would gladly grab any cheap holiday there if thats all that was on offer but only because I know I could get to calis easily from there.

Mick went on his own earlier in the year to do lots of odd jobs. Phoned me every night from the bar, told me what he was eating and how he missed me so much. Oh and he changed a light bulb.
Very worthwhile.

Hi Marcus, yes I did book with goldtrail, a bit dearer flying from up here paid £166 each, I couldnt get anything on my own either yet when you put the same details in for 2 people it came up with several, (madening isn't it )thats why I had to wait until the 14th as my daughter gets her holidays then. I am leaving hubby (tony ) behind he is looking after the dog plus he is taking his reach truck test on the 18th. but I have been so fed up sitting around with my foot in plaster and not being able to do anything, couldnt even enjoy my other daughters wedding on the 30th sept as I only got the plaster removed the day before, they took my plaster off a week early just for the wedding but gave me crutches instead as I still wasnt allowed to walk on it. so thats my excuse for going ( not that I needed one )I was straight on the internet before he got the words " why dont you go to". where do you normal change your money here or in turkey ?

pat whatever did you do?

Hi puma, I was delivering to one of my sites at work they have a metal double glazed door at the entrance that doesn't lock open, so as soon as you let go of it the door springs back, which is exactly what it did before I got my other foot inside, so the door slammed my ankle against the metal step Ouch ! I was carrying a box at the time so only had one hand free to open the door.it didnt help that I had to drive my van all the way home as no one was available from work to come and get me."typical"
