I understand from today's paper that Vodafone have successfully tendered for Telsim and that they are now the new owners of the company.
Not sure what it will mean to us Brits but hopefully it will be for the good.

Vodafone have bought Telsim (9.5 million subscribers)the country's second largest mobile phone operator. The benefits of this, to all mobile phone subscribers here, we will have to wait and see.
Turkcell is the largest mobile phone operaror in Turkey (27 million subscribers).
The general feeling is that this will encourage more foreign investment into Turkey from other foriegn companies.

Wont really make much difference. HSBC, BT, Tesco, Debenhams, Next, Glaxo, Kingfisher, Avon amongst many already here but doesnt mean any savings for Brits.
I hear they might have a small discounted rate for Vodafone to Vodafone subscribers but that will be a long way in the future and also the buyout of Telsim is still subject to approval from the SDIF Board and Turkish regulatory, legal and competition authorities.

Hopefully, one day in the not too distant future, the concept of competition and price reduction might occur to some-one.
