Hello everyone n Happy New Year!
I've just stumbled across this site and am pretty impressed. I'm off to Calis this summer for the fourth time in as many years staying at the same hotel,(can I name it?) meeting the same group of people we met the first time we went.(There seems to be a pattern forming here doesn't there - but honestly we do have a life?!!)
Has anyone tried paragliding at Olu Deniz? Against my other halfs wishes I'm determined to do it - can't wait.
Anyway I'm going to explore the site abit more, so bye!

Hi Dougie
Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you aboard 8)
Ofcourse you can name your favourite hotel and please tell us why you like it so much.
When in the summer are you going? We're hoping to get over for a week in May then again for two in July :D Can't wait!
Best wishes

Hi Dougie
Paragliding is one of the main attractions to Olu Deniz. Defintely worth doing as it really is a 'once in a lifetime' experience. Recommend NOT booking in advance as the online agencies tend to charge nearly double what you are charged once in Olu Deniz. Plenty of good agencies locally and no chance of NOT getting to do it when there as plenty of spaces normally. Worth just checking on insurance as I met someone last year whose son broke his ankle on landing and whilst the private hospital in Fethiye is great - make sure you are covered. If you want a list of local paragliding companies and tel numbers when you get here I have a list of about 10 taken from a local website - just drop me a line.

Hi and welcome to the Forum....Happy landings. :)

Hi Dougie we have a place in Hisaronu, not far from Oludeniz we watch the paragliders taking off from the mountain opposite. We did it last year, all the family. You can haggle the price especially if theres a few of you. We paid £40 each although I dont like heights to much, it was a case of bravado, but well worth it. As Doug says insurance is the main thing to check out. Oh and the drive up the mountain is a thing in itself.
You can also microlight locally too.
Best Wishes

Hello everyone,
Thankyou so much for replying. We stay at the Golden Moon. It's only a small hotel (32 bedrooms) but the owner Mete, who also owns the jewellers just over the bridge, and his staff make you feel like part of the family, plus the food is pretty tasty too. In the past when I've been abroad I'm usually ready to go home after about 11 days (get bored!) but since going to Calis I hanker after staying longer. Just wish I'd found Calis years ago.
I've told my hubby he has to do paragliding with me, don't think I can post his reply!!! So if anyone is in Olu Deniz mid July and hears loud pitched screeching coming from the sky, it isn't going to be a new breed of exotic bird flying over it's gonna be me!
Take care, Karina
