 :)HELLO FOLKS
We have just bought a villa in Uzumlu (my dream has come true) a little late as I am 60 and my Geoff is 57 but HEY we feel like the best is yet to come. Is there anyone else out there in the same village.  ;)

I am sure you will enjoy Uzumlu as much as we do - we bought a villa up there 3 years ago and we love it.  It is so peaceful and you really do escape the rat race - its like stepping back in time and so very peaceful.  Good luck

Jo

We have bought a Villa in Uzumlu and it is being built as we speak - Completion in May this year.  We have just returned (yesterday) from a week there staying in Fethiye and buying furniture and curtains etc for delivery when it is ready.  We are at teh top of the Village (Tepe Uzumlu) where there are about 8 new Villas being built.  We are with Eden Estates and they are very good.  Any questions then please fire away.

Hi all and welcome to those of you who have moved here or are thinking of doing so. It is a beautiful village but there are a couple of ponts everyone should know. There is an electricity problem here. There are just not enough transformers in the village to cope with the new houses. Tedas (electricity co) are waiting for final approval from Ankara as to how much extra power can be pumped here.It costs 9000 pounds to put a transformer in.I asked if some of the building companies here could contribute but Ankara said no ,at the moment. We have about 4 power cuts a month ranging from half hour to 4 hours. Not a big deal really but you bet it is when you are watching something on tele that you dont want to miss!!. The other thing is the water charges. If you have a pool you pay 1.50 YTL per ton and if you dont 1YTL per ton. Sounds ok for non pool owners. You only fill up the pool once a year yet every ton of water you use is 1.50YTl. Our bill last year was 475 YTL. Ok so we have a big garden but in the end we were only watering it 2 times per week. Couldnt bear to see all the new trees we had planted looking so thirsty!! Please dont think I am a miserable old git. Far from it I love my life here and wouldnt change it for the world but, it pays to know some points.

We have a villa in  Uzumlu and when we were there in April for our first stay  we could not run our aircon units all at once due to lack of power. At this moment new telegragh poles and power lines are going in so when we are back in June all will be fine hopefully. Permission was needed to do this and that has been the delay.
Cant wait to get back !!!!!

I think the problems with the power have now been sorted and also the local council have now put a block on further development. Uzumlu as everyone has said is a beautiful place and was in danger of being over developed I hope this does not happen .[^]

We have just come back from our villa in Uzumlu. The electricity problem is solved. We had megga power, no different from being in the uk. We have never noticed a water problem. Our showers, bath and everthing else has always had plenty of water pressure.

We are also in Uzumlu at the top of the village.  There is a new small site of 8 new bespoke villas all been sold 2 of which are moving out permanently at the end of August.  I came back on Fiday 7/7/06 and we had a short power cut after the England game vs Portugal, but that was all in a week.  If anyone is interested we are selling one of our triplex semis - 5 beds, 4 baths, private pool and fantastic views.  Contact me by Email if you are interested.

Regards
Craig

Hi Vicky and good to hear that you are enjoying living in Uzumlu.
We too are moving out to Uzumlu to live in March / April 07, house currently being built, and can't wait. We are over in Sept, 7th - 22nd staying in Olu but would love to meet up with any Uzumlu residents in the wine bar (or Olu if you fancy a change!) one night. Prehaps you could get a date together with some of the other expats and we could all have a get together :D If anyone is interested please email us and we can organise something during those dates.

Hi Vicky, We have just completed the purchase of our home in Uzumla this week. We coming over 29th September to furnish. We hoping to spend  lots of time there from April onwards but not moving lock, stock and barrel at the moment, but plan to spend as much time as possible there from April. Can't wait! really looking forward to our trip 29th September, shoppping for furniture etc. Once we  have made this trip and furnished I think reality will kick in. I (Mrs Salford Al) am still pinching myself. If you use the wine bar it would be nice to meet up with yourselves and other neighbours in Uzumlu when we are over in September. Am looking forward to Sunday lunch at the wine bar and a few evenings wining and dining.

hello all,, i think üzümlü is the best place for investment and also for living,, the nature is still virgin not like hisaronu, calis, ovacik at all.. if you have a car you are just 15 minutes away from beach, supermarkets, big hospital etc.. i really love there and having built a villa nearly cadianda road cross.. if you raelly like uzumlu you shouldnt hesitate to invest your money i dont think you will regret..
