We went to our bank and did a Swift transfer. Cost about £25 I seem to remember but it goes on ammount you send I think. They will tell you what account details you need etc.

Hello Vic,
I have done a few of these and I use Nationwide, swift transfer, they charge 20 pounds for each transaction and I have found this to be the cheapest ,although someone else may know different.

We normally find the charge by our bank in UK is £20 but you do get charged in Turkey not sure what this amount is? Be careful TSB Lloyds charge £20 + £35 to cover cost both ends. We were advised to pay cost in UK to save but who knows, any feed back please

You have to pay it either way...:(  I was a bit miffed with Lloyds because they failed to mention this charge when we sent the money the first time.  The following time i thought i'd be clever so i told them we'd pay it the other end and it was the same....

According to Lloyds this is because the £35 is an extra international charge.  Our local branch doesn't get to keep it and neither do the turkish receiving bank.  Someone in between grabs it...:-\
