Just saying hi. Sorry very rude, asked questions first, then introduced myself!!! Moving to Calis 11.4.06, to rented accommodation whilst looking for old house or plot of land. Fed up of trying to do it from UK. This forum is so handy to newcomers like me. Hope I can contribute some helpful hints, when I learn some that is. Cheers. Maggie Machin

Hi Maggie we intend to exactly the same thing later this year and have also put things on hold until we arrive as it is so difficult trying to manage property purchases from the UK. Good luck and lucky you to be there now, did you find it easy to get a long term rental?

hi maggie welcome and good luck with the home finding hope you find your dream

Hi Maggie
Are you planning to move to Turkey permanently? Good luck with your house/land hunting.

Thanks to everyone who wished me well. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!!! Couple of answers - yes, I intend to live permanently in Turkey. The areas I am interested in include Fethiye (outskirts) and possibly Oren, although I am having mixed reports about rights of foreigners to buy here!! As regards to the long term rental, I think I must have just been in the right place at the right time. My priority was a walled garden, not shared, for my dogs, and this I found on the last but one day of looking. I saw lots of great options for long term rentals but found that these proved more expensive from British owners, although not all!!
Again, by being in town, of course you hear of much more than trying to do it from the UK, so my advice would be come out of season, when pennies are a bit short, and ask around. Good luck Linda. Cheers. Maggie Machin.Javascript:insertsmilie(' :)')

Hi Maggie - how exciting - not long to go now. Hope the move goes well and good luck with the house hunting.
Friends of ours did just what you are planning to do and found rented accommodation no problem.
