Work experience
« on: September 28, 2007, 19:52:28 PM »
My boy has been on work experience this week. He is doing some demolition work for a Northamptonshire builder. Obviously he wanted to assist the coach at Northampton Town football Club along with all the boys on work experience. It's a small team of blokes (3) and he is loving every minute of it. He comes home full of chat and absolutely filthy. He has earned the nickname of pace maker and comes home with a quote of the day, things he has picked up that they have said that has made him laugh - can you knock one out here for me! and it's not a hard job once you get the hang of it but getting the hang of it is really hard! He has had to put up with radio 2 and the endless talk about eggheads. Tonight the builder has paid him 50 quid, saying he has worked hard and part of work experience should be earning money in return for your hard work. George has tried to return it but the builder won't have any of it, it goes against the schools policy as students should not be paid. What a great experience all round for him to be working with a great bunch of people who recognise his hard work and reward him for it. P.S. he has offered me 10 pounds to cover the cost of the petrol to get him to the job every morning. What a fine young man he turning out to be.
