Are graduates appreciated?
« on: December 28, 2007, 14:33:16 PM »
A number of years ago our eldest son studied at a University in Glasgow, and obtained a Phd in Physics and Chemistry with Instrumentation analysis. He applied for numerous positions, but was told he would need experience before being taken on.Having a young family of his own,and not being allowed to use his expertise,he took on work in Belfast, and later in Edinburgh, which was all computer related. He was told earlier this year, that the firm did not require him because of cut-backs and has now finished that job. Before he finished,he had the foresight to re-train,and is now a fully qualified plumber. What are graduates supposed to do when firms refuse to take them on because they have no experience?I hope their taps and toilets leak and flood their place.:D
