Last day in New Orleans.
We were REALLY looking forward to a wonderful last day lunch in the French Quarter before travelling back in the evening. HOWEVER all the roads in were closed [

!]- everything from the freeways to back alleys in were shut down. [

!]There was no way we were getting into the quarter & Carl knows the area really well. Every entry we tried there were police cars blocking the roads.
The reason - President Shrub[

)] was visiting & he totally scuppered our plans.
We went back in disgust to our airport hotel to look up where the nearest Olive Garden (great Italian food) was. Phoned up made reservations only to come out of the hotel to find the Shrub was now on the way to the airport so we couldn't get out of the parking lot.
10 minutes before his cavalcade passed our hotel we were stood outside with a group of casually dressed workers & businessmen who had come out of a meeting at our hotel.
I just jokingly asked if anyone had a large ripe tomato handy as I would love to toss one at his car:

. On turning around a few seconds later I noticed Carl was very pale :oas he was being talked to by one neatly dressed gentleman. It turned out he was CIA & he told him that if I'd been nearer the corner I'd have been arrested for threatening the President.
Carl told him it was my British humour:D. He told him it wasn't funny, no matter what country I came from. OOPS!

So - if you're in the US - be careful if the President is anywhere in the vicinity i.e. within 5 miles or so - as you never know who is listening to your conversation.
