I intend driving from Turkey and back again in my Turkish registered vehicle. Has anybody done this and if so did you meet any particular problems on the way because you were in a Turkish Reg. car.

I did it 4 years ago and didn't have any problems at all. It should be easier now as more of the countries that I travelled through are EU members.

Hi we did it in August and it was a great experience - did the Northern Turkey and Greece route over the mountains then ferry from Igoumenitsa to Ancona in Italy. E-mail us if you need details.

It's something I've always fancied doing, only problem is it wouldn't be much fun for the kids. Anyone want to foster them for a couple of weeks? :D

i did it about 7 years ago ferry boat from izmir to venice then up thru italy switzerland and france..had a nissan skystar with turkish ma plates at the time and a back load of bathroom fittings and tiles as i was doing up a uk house  and fethiye prices were a fraction of uk prices then . was worried about the uk customs at dover however had to knock on doors there to find out the proceedures for a temp import, they just said after about 6 months the local police might get a bit funny and waved me on!! was wonderful not having to worry about speed cameras, parking and red lights when no one is arround!!

If it helps your plans, there's a cracking Premier Inn just outside Dover :D
