5 Countries with lowest taxes

Suprisingly Turkey has the 2nd lowest taxes (2nd to Mexico).
Also suprising to me was that Turkey is the 16th largest economy in the world.

Interesting, although as a resident it does not seem low at all especially when the main items we want are taxed much higher, fuel, beer/wine & spirits, vehicle tax the list goes on and on, not to forget mention of the resident/visa permit stealth tax on British resident/visitors.

I believe that the situation in Mexico is not because of low tax rates but because the Mexican Government has difficulty in actually collecting the taxes it sets. Might the same be true in Turkey?

Is that direct taxation the figures are based on?  That is why with so many people not declaring tax we get clobbered with high taxes on things like Corbindalas mentions. The government has to get it's money from somewhere.

The calculation is Total Tax Revenue divided by GDP (i.e. the amount of money the Government gets in relation to the size of the economy).
