Calis Carnival - Events this week

Activities taking place in Calis this Carnival week are:

All week - Tennis Tournament, Calis tennis courts

All week -  craft and local produce stalls on the promenade from 8.00 to midnight

Monday

4.00   Tug of War - Ramo from Ramo's Watch Shop will be inviting teams to take place in the annual tug on the beach - taking place up near Mado ice cream parlour

5.00 Fethiye Municipality Band will be performing along the promenade

7.00 Concert on Sunset Terrace, Calis promenade


Tuesday

10.00 Beach football tournament - Tansu from the Bus Stop bar will be organising this event down at the Malhun hotel area of the promenade

6.00 - concert on promenade

7.30 until late 3C's Charity BBQ at Mimoza Restaurant Beach Club (only a few tickets left - please ring 0536 373 9520 to book)


Wednesday

4.00 Street Party - this will be taking place along the main street from the dolphin junction to the water taxi bridge and the bars will be inviting you to party with them. A number of events will be taking place at the party these include:

4.30 - cookery competition.  Local ex-pats are being invited to make some kind of Turkish food at home and bring it to the competition where it will be tasted and judged.  The winner will receive a cup.

5.30 -   Miss Calis competition - anyone can enter, no age limit!

6.30 - Folklore show


Thursday

8.00 concert on Sunset terrace

8.45 Sunset terrace wildlife seminar - a talk from sea turtle expert, Professor Yakup Kaska, who studied in the UK and speaks both Turkish and English. As well as a slide show this will be a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy learning and talking about these fascinating creatures, for which the area is so famous.


Friday - your chance to check out the local bars and restaurants whilst the organisers prepare for the big day!

Saturday - Carnival Day

10.00 to 5.00 - Exhibition in the gardens next to Mutlu Hotel and Yoruk tents

10.00 until finished - Communal painting project - English artist Tina mcCallan will be inviting 100 carnival visitors to join in this years communal painting project by each painting a square of a famous painting - no experience or artistic talent needed!

4.00 Carnival Parade - the parade will be assembling down near the Sat restaurant and will be coming along Calis promenade and the main street at about 4.30 (please note that the carnival parade is starting at the other end of the promenade this year and finishing at the Seril end - some of the school groups who will be performing dance routines on stage will be peeling off at the car boot car park so will not complete the rest of the parade route)

5.30 Dance show by various school groups on the stage at the Concert area in the Calis Car boot Car Park next to Bahar Hotel

6.00-6.30 presentation of cups and awards at the concert area

7.00 - Carnival Concert -  Acts this year are SELIM GÜNDAY, AHMET ERARSLAN and MEDCEZIR GROUP. The headline band of the evening are Istanbul group DOLAPDERE BIG GANG. Dolopdere are a really good 8 piece band and a great stage act who sing in English - check them out on utube

Finally

Wednesday 1 June -  7.00  Annual Charity Promises Auction - Calis Children's Children (3C's) will be setting up the auctioneer's podium on Calis seafront in front of the Nil Bar and Orient Express Restaurants. All restaurants from Dennis the Menace to Bostans will be participating  so there will be lots of seating for everyone. There are over 130 lots so far and they are still coming in - check out the full auction list and bidding details for online bids {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}41019 - a great place to pick up some real bargains and help the children at the same time.
