plastic bags for your toiletries

The question looked more stupid than intended lol,
Just meant how strict are the rules supposed to be? Is it just larger items like perfume, shampoo etc or anything thats liquid as Ive never bothered with the plastic bags and not been stopped so far either.

Prob another daft question but here it goes.................
So is the whole point that you just aren't meant to take over 100 ml or they want to see what the liquid is?

In hand luggage you can't take anything liquid, paste, etc that is over 100ml. Anything liquid 100ml or less must be put in a clear bag and put through the x-ray machines separately.

There are signs at all the check-ins at Airports about what should be put into the plastic bags before you go through the x-ray machines.  The signs have been there for years.  I have always been asked are there any liquids in my handbag at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
We watched a young couple at Aberdeen having to open a bag where they had two bottles of milk for their baby, the Customs made them drink from one of them.
About paying...  They have always made you pay 50 cents for a bag in New York Airports, so British Airports are maybe following suit and making profits before the ban is lifted next year.

Travelling from Manchester  was told the clear plastic bag had to sealable, not allowed to use sealable food bag!!!!!! ? wanting me to pay £1.00 for two bags
Think she must have been having a very bad day, challenged her and found that as long as liquid/cosmetics did not roll/fall out when placed in x-ray tray it was OK
She huffed and puffed ....me just smiled and carried on through x-ray channel bag intact : :)

Slightly off topic. On my last visit to Turkey I was stopped at the scanners in Manchester airport and asked , rather incredulously , did I have 2 horseshoes in my bag??  Of course I did!:D  They then checked if they were allowed!!  I protested I was only taking the shoes not the bl@@dy horse, and could not see a problem. I was told they could have been used as a weapon!!  Like a litre bottle of spirits bought in duty free or on board couldn't.  Idiots[:o)][:o)]
