Just read an article in todays paper of an english couple whos top floor of there villa has been demolished by the local council in altinkum because it was built 15 inches to high.This is 5 years on from when they had purchased it.Turkish councils in major clamp downs on illegal builds,beware owners.

It is a very sad situation and you can be sure some jealous/vindictive person made a complaint. As for next door, remember that what you are seeing is the original concrete frame - when turning 'depots' into usable rooms with decent headroom, it is not uncommon to raise the roof line to above the frame/original plans.

The real tragedy is that local authorities couldn't normally care, but are duty bound to follow up any building complaints. If everyone could adopt a 'live and let live' attitude, things like this probably would never happen.
