They must build them strong on the Lleyn Peninsula - lifting the Criccieth stone! The village's other claim to fame, for me at any rate, is that 50 years ago you could buy the best ice cream I have ever tasted - before or since - from Cadwalader's shop half way up the hill to Criccieth Castle. Apparently, after all these years, it is still there - a "must-try" if you find yourself in North Wales.

You have not tried the Worlds Best Ice Cream which is made in Cullen. The shop cannot be passed they have such a mouthwatering array of ices in all flavours, made to a secret recipe

I looked Cullen up on the web. Even the Scottish sites say only that it is probably the best in Scotland and then admit it might be Brora instead. How do they serve ice cream in Scotland? Is it battered and deep fried?

And interestingly, there is no mention of ice cream whatsoever on the Brora page.

Looks like fried Ice cream is a Turkish delicacy............

Fried Ice Cream is offered at lots of restaurants in Calis, it seems to be as Jim says a Turkish delicacy.
Travel through Cullen and there is always a queue of people at the Ice Cream shop. I used to take my dear lovely late Mother in Law, who came from N.Ireland up the coast for a drive firstly we would stop at Portsoy, sit at a great pub overlooking the Harbour and have prawn salad, and she would have a Guinness, but to complete the experience we would drive over to Cullen and get some ice cream cones and demolish them with the greatest enjoyment, her day would not have been complete without a Cullen ice cream.
