It definately has a different feel to it. Im not sure now which season I prefer,I love the winter season as I when I go out at night you get to know everyone and as you say, you get the town back, which for Fethiye is OK But Calis is virtually shut!

I like the tourist season too though because it is so nice seeing and meeting people who are here just for a good time on holiday, I never forget how lucky I am that I am able to live here fulltime and appreciate that for many people they can only take one holiday a year here

& virtually shut is just how I like Calis after being in the hustle & bustle of Brighton for so many years!

Quiet, peaceful, no problems with being asked to eat here there & everywhere along the prom, prices drop some way down compared to the summer tourist ones, lots to do if you want to do it, easy to amble along & stop for coffee or a beer wherever's open, no difficulty in getting anything that is available in the summer (except maybe a quick tan lol). I've yet to be here in July or August but have just about done most other seasons now, this visit is my 1st for Xmas & New Year, certainly not short of invites to go out & socialise so unless you are a real sun worshipper can't see that winter wont suit you.

PS: Like Jules said, "holidaymaker watching" can be fun too!

I'd love to see Calis at this time of the year. It was gloriously quiet towards the end of April when we were there, so Can i assume it might be the same, just more places closed up for the winter?

It's way quieter than the end of April was, I walked from the viewing point to the Eyna the other morning & saw no more than half a dozen other folk. The weekends can be a wee bit livlier - you might see a couple of dozen!

As you say Supacabby the south coast was so busy in the summer restaurants full, shoppers comparing the price of a can of baked beans the same as in Calis but its the time of year they make their money, then come the end of October you can breath a sigh of relief and get back to normal.I have just come back to grey old UK now live in the West Midlands miss it alredy,I think just living on the coast makes you feel better.Feb and April this year was lovely long walks along the front, bar owners pleased to see you good service not rushed sitting in front of a cosy log burner. My Turkish partner thought he was going to die last year when he came over found it too damp and cold we did have a lot of snow up here, we both will retire in a couple of years time to enjoy life in Turkey.I'll introduce him to a quiz night or two !!
