To stop the accidents, brains of our drivers must change, not only the system of getting licence  :)

well education in the 'rules of the road' would be a great start, as well as teaching kids the green cross code!!

Just enforcing the laws what are already in place would be a great help>

I don't actually think the driving is as dangerous as many other countries - ok it's not great but there's only about half a dozen ludicrous manoeuvres to keep alert for (my favourite being the overtaking of someone who is turning left off a main road on the side they are turning to). If you know those, it's actually ok - if you want to drive at 5 km/h nobody cares, they just go round you. In the UK they'd be ready to kill you.

What I really wish for driving in Turkey is that car condition was better monitored and for seatbelt use to be seen as normal. Rusty old cars from days of far poorer integrated safety, and not wearing seatbelts are the reasons that so many collisions there - even relatively tame ones - result in deaths.

The best way forward is to get all those that have had a license for over 5 years and make them do an actual driving test. Why, most of those that got their license in the 90s are before actually got their license from the local kebab man or by giving an under table amount of cash.
Come to Istanbul and see some really idiotic driving that will turn you mad.
