Flights to Dalaman Summer 2013
« on: October 28, 2012, 17:13:39 PM »
HI, I have just been looking at flights to Dalaman for August 2013 and am horrified by the prices. No matter which company and airport combination I look at there is a marked increase over 2012. Unfortunately I am one of these people that wants to fly at civilised times and arriving in Dalaman in the wee hours is not something I would consider.

I had thought of being a bit more creative and fly from the UK (London) to another European location and then travelling onto Dalaman either direct or via Istanbul. Has anyone else already tried something like this & if so did it work?

One option I have looked is flying to Amsterdam from Southend via easyjet & then on from there. Flights from Southend/Amsterdam are £75 each (including hold luggage & taxes) even in August. Haven't quite got the rest of the journey sorted out yet!

My humble opinion is that if prices continue to rise then turkey will fairly soon no longer be a viable choice for many people.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
John

I did the same search about two years ago, make sure you are sitting down when you see the cost from Schipol? to Istanbul

I got one way flights from Turkey to Scotland and for the return leg got much cheaper flights to Rhodes, with the intention of getting the ferry to Fethiye. It isn't always cheaper but another option to consider perhaps.

I often go via Istanbul.
It is not so bad, but obviously adds hours on to your journey.

Just booked with Monarch - two weeks  next summer -Manchester = £501 including 20kg and seats.

Got extra £20 off to £481 using Giveme25 code.

Plus changed some tesco vouchers every £10 = £15 off.

 :)

If you fly from Edinburgh with Easyjet on 12 August it's £267 return which is the cheapest I've seen it.

Have used Turkish Airlines from Edindurgh to Istanbul a few times , this sometimes works out cheaper and the Connections to Dalaman are dirt cheap again you have the choice of Turkish Airlines or Atlasjet but depending on who you use may require a nightover in Istanbul, it certainly beats being cramped like sardines in cattle class of Thomas Cook or others, and expensive costs for food and drinks. It works for me.
