His best attribute was the fact that he got excited about things just like we did. Before him I don't remember anyone doing it quite as well. And such a warm host on A Question of Sport.

Apparently he wasn't best pleased when reminded of Colemanballs.

I said on Facebook that I thought he died some years ago, so imagine my surprise today...

Part of that was the change in Private Eye from "Colemanballs" to "Commentatorballs", as it is today. And some very funny people contribute to that (  ;) ;) ;) )

First I've heard about this.  Very sad news.  A great commentator.
