Buying on E Bay in Turkey ?

I don`t know if it has been raised on CBC before, but if you buy on E Bay from abroad, ie, Blighty, What is the position re, customs or the likelyhood of receiving it ?

It depends on what you're buying and its value.

The main problem that we had when purchasing from the UK was persuading the seller that a request to ship to Turkey wasn't a scam. Once we got over that hurdle it wasn't much of a problem.

There were a few occasions when items got held up by Customs but it was just a case of going down to the harbour offices and paying the duty / bribe / fine.

We used to buy on UK Ebay when we lived in Turkey - mainly Playstation games for the kids (ok and me) and I must say I don't recall ever not getting one through - better success rate than post in general. As KKOB says, a lot depends on value and the games were only a few quid each.

There is a turkish version called Gittigidiyor.com it works in the same way and you do not have to worry about not getting it as everything is done in Turkey.
