When they tell you the price, if you think it's too much just say "yok " and walk away.

That way they then know that someone else will get your money.

Don't be embarrassed to do it. They don't feel too embarrassed to rip you off.

It's probably the only thing I hate about Turkey.          :(

At the beginning of our holiday this year six of us got in a seven seat taxi from the dolphin roundabout to Koca Calis.  Can't remember the cost but I don't recall it being expensive.  Nearer the end of the holiday we went back to the same taxi rank, again for a taxi back to Koca Calis for six of us.  It was a different driver from the first time.  This time the taxi driver would not take us in one taxi - he said he would only take us if we had two taxis.  We could clearly see that the cars lined up were capable of taking six passengers, in fact the driver who had taken us on the first trip was there.  We just walked away and went to taxi rank near the entrance to the beach and got a taxi back to Koca Calis - in the same make of seven seat vehicle that we had been refused at the dolphin roundabout.

My experience (or rather my husband's) of Fethiye Taxis is somewhat different.  He got a taxi from the PTT rank to our home in Ciftlik.  As he has a tremor (similar to Parkinson's) he struggled to get the cash out of his wallet to pay the fare and the taxi-driver helped him by taking the notes from him.  A couple of weeks or so later, whilst passing the PTT he heard a shout, was tapped on the shoulder, and turned round to  find the self-same taxi driver handing him back 20 lira with an apology for taking the wrong fare.  Needless to say we asked for his card and when we require a taxi from Fethiye he gets our business every time.
