Surely yesterday cannot be the first time that Scotland Yard have interviewed Robert Murat.

I thought they said on the news that it was "as a witness" not a suspect! I feel for all those people with missing relatives who get no press or police interest.

Three years and £ 7.30m later - I would have thought that interviewing him would have been amongst the first things they did.

Apparently he was interviewed early in the investigations, as a suspect, but his alibi checked out.

This time he was being interviewed as a potential witness & to find out if he could give the police any pointers as to might be involved.

Which could have been done in 2011 presumably.

Very true, but you have to remember that the UK plod were not very pro-active in the investigations at the start and have only become more so because of lobbying by the McCain's & there influential friends who have continued to keep the case in the public eye.
I'm sure that they hoped it would fade away just like the case of Ben Needham did.

Why would/ should the British Police be involved or held responsible for a crime occurring in another country?

We watched the drama last week about the landlord who was hounded by the press for murdering one of his female tenants a crime he didn,t commit..  His life was ruined. It was mentioned on the program that Robert Murat was treated exactly the same and was proved innocent as he had a strong alibi.  He is now JUST a witness.. His life was also ruined by false accusations.
